Tea is good, Infuser material is not, December 22, 2009
This review is from: Bodum Assam Teapot, 32 Oz
The tea I find from this product to be good. However I don't like the #5 plastic infuser that it comes with. It'd be more comfortable with using a stainless steel infuser. Who knows what this plastic releases at higher temperatures?

Great for loose tea!, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Bodum Assam Teapot, 32 Oz
I have been using this teapot for nearly a year and I love it. The strainer works very well to trap the loose tea leaves, and the plunger seal is still strong so it effectively stops brewing when the tea reaches the desired strength. The glass tea pot and the plastic tea leaf holder are both dishwasher safe (in the top rack) and come out of the dishwasher sparkling.
I was a little worried that the glass seemed thin but I haven't broken or cracked it yet.
I would buy this for a fellow tea lover with no hesitation. It would make a great gift (particularly if packaged with some loose tea).

Glass vs. Plastic Bodum Teapots, January 6, 2010
This review is from: Bodum Assam Teapot, 32 Oz
I've always appreciated Bodum's stylish designs, but I haven't always been impressed by their functionality. Take the Assam teapots. Over the past 3 years I've owned both a plastic and a glass teapot in the 34-oz size. Both have worked effectively, yet both had an eventual downfall. First, the glass teapot (
Bodum Assam 34-Ounce Glass Tea Press with Stainless-Steel Filter). The walls of the glass teapot's body are too thin. After several months of daily use, the handles of the glass teapots cannot withstand the weight of a full pot of tea. Mine fractured around the base of the handle, and thankfully I noticed it before anything more severe could take place. Other reviewers have had issues where their pot has shattered completely, which tells me this was not an isolated incident. I personally rate this at 3 stars.
As for the plastic teapots, they are much more reliable in terms of use, hence the 4 stars. However, the tea press filter is made of plastic, not stainless steel, which became badly stained within the first month of use with a black ceylon tea. It's a compromise to give up the more stylish, clean appearance of the glass bodum for the more trustworthy construction of the plastic teapot, but in my opinion, its the safer choice.
