Plastic beaker, not glass; it works but clumsy to use,

This review is from: Bodum Latte Battery Operated Milk Frother and Light Mixer with Plastic Beaker, 0.2 L, 6-Ounce, Red (Kitchen)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
If you want frothy milk, this little gadget does (sort of) work. However, unlike other frothers I've used, there is not a switch to turn the frother on. Instead, there is a button that must be firmly depressed the entire time you want to run it. A button requiring lighter pressure would have been easier to use if no switch was available. Also, not sure if I got the final version or not, but on mine the beaker is not glass as advertised, but plastic, with a "7" inside the recycle triangle on the bottom. This is not good with warm milk. If you are looking for a serious frother, buy the Nespresso 3192US Aeroccino Plus instead. I've used it for 3 years and it keeps on ticking making perfect hot or cold frothed (or just hot not-frothed) milk in a minute flat (or less). It also works well with 2% and whole milk. If you don't want to spend that much, just use your blender or get a little battery operated whisk (they run a couple bucks at any discount store) and remember to use skim or lowfat milk for the best froth when using one of these options. I would have to recommend passing on this flashy little guy.

Inferior to other frothers tested,

First, to anyone considering purchasing a gadget like this, I've noticed that most of the positive reviews are from folks who sound as if they've probably never owned (or needed) a frother before. We've tested several frothing devices over years, including a teeny/tiny device found at a dollar store (yes, dollar store) - and they all worked much better than this one by Bodum. This was such a disappointment. First, it takes FOUR AA batteries, which is excessive for a small appliance that has one, simple task. Then, to my dismay, my rechargeable batteries didn't have enough juice even to turn the device on - we had to buy new batteries just to test it out. The frothing blade isn't ~really~ a frothing blade. It's a mini whisk. And it's very cool looking (goes up & down on a spindle), but it is very poorly designed. It does not froth well at all - it's both slow & ineffective. I tried to froth whole cream & half/half, both of which were too heavy to produce hardly any results. It only increased in volume by about 15%. On regular milk, it takes a full 2-3 minutes to froth - it's much easier (and quicker) to froth by hand with a normal whisk! In fact, I believe a normal blender (with a normal blade) would do a better job. But with my past frothing devices (magic bullet, thunderstick, frothing blade attachment on a hand mixer, etc), you can froth whole cream to make whipping cream, ice cream, sorbets, mousse, and a whole variety of desserts. This one doesn't do anything like that. This is the most inferior frothing device I've ever seen. This one comes in dead last.

Bodum Latte Frother,

I have long wanted to make lattes, found in europe and expensive coffee houses in the U.S. I have finally found the way to do this at home. The Bodum Latte Maker makes a pretty good one. The trick is to heat the milk/cream in the microwave in a glass jug. Pour it into the Bodum container and start frothing to your heart's content. It takes a couple of times to get it REAL frothy - just experiment with it. Can't wait to show off with dinner guests. Acutally I am doing this myself every day.

Mine Struggled,
This review is from: Bodum Latte Battery Operated Milk Frother and Light Mixer with Plastic Beaker, 0.2 L, 6-Ounce, Red (Kitchen)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This frother is made of hard plastic, which seems to be durable. It takes 4AA batteries. It is easy to clean. It's attractive enough. The only issue I have with this product is that mine struggles to get the job done. I hear the pretty loud and vibrating sound as I press on the button for the required two minutes, but it seems rather delicate and just seems strains itself while frothing. For this reason, it's not a frother I'd suggest to anyone. I would recommend a frother which does the job effortlessly and a little bit less noisily.

Worst frother EVER!,

ARGGHHH I hated this thing! You had to start with ice cold milk. And then keep your finger on the button - and that HURT after a bit. And you have to use a ton of batteries. The worst part - after you froth up your milk - adding it to your hot coffee or cocoa - it turned your hot beverage to lukewarm or cold in the case of my espresso! YUCK! You can get a $2 frother that works just as well. Don't spend the money on this one. I have a Nespresso Aerocino and adore it. It steams the milk, it plugs in, and you push one button for half a second to whip the milk. For the price of this thing, save your money and get a real Latte Milk Frother.

This just doesn't have the power it needs to actually froth anything...I ended up with a plastic cup of stirred milk.not what I was looking for at all.

This was ok, but my handheld frother works much better. This one stays stationary at the top and bottom for too long before moving up and down. With the handheld version, you can move it up and down yourself, and it froths much more quickly. The cup is nice, but overall this is just much more bulky to keep around than a handheld frother and a regular cup that you have in your cabinet. I was not impressed but it does what it says it will.

This item works perfectly, and offers a special treat to my coffee experience! The battery compartment is in the lid, so the weight keeps the unit sturdy and secure. The heavy plastic beaker is easy to clean, in or out of the dishwasher. Enjoy!

Not up to Bodum's usual excellent standards,

This review is from: Bodum Latte Battery Operated Milk Frother and Light Mixer with Plastic Beaker, 0.2 L, 6-Ounce, Black (Kitchen)
The anemic battery powered motor of this frother is not up to the task of making great foamed milk. You can either froth the milk cold as the instructions say and then heat the milk or heat the milk and then froth. Either way, the milk loses its heat or its froth before you have a chance to enjoy it. The Bodum pump frother is better. It takes less time and you don't have to push your finger on a button for two minutes. Another reviewer mentioned the Nespresso Aeroccino which is much more expensive but far superior way to make excellent frothed milk.

Bodum Latte Battery Operated Milk Frother WHITE,

This review is from: Bodum Latte Battery Operated Milk Frother and Light Mixer with Plastic Beaker, 0.2 L, 6-Ounce, Black (Kitchen)
Rather nifty for a lazy guy who likes gadgets like me. Bodum makes some good stuff and while this machine does a good job of make milk froth, I can't help but wonder if the Bodum hand pump milk frother might do an even a better job. Bought it, using it, like it enough to keep using it. If you like gadgets you will be satisfied. If you are mainline coffee connoisseur and purist who desires perfection in lattes and cappuccinos, you might be a tiny bit disappointed.
