5.0 out of 5 stars Great pot, great coffee
I just love Bodum's coffee pots. They fit together well, compared to other brands and there's no comparison for the quality of this type of coffee. 3.0 out of 5 stars Bodum coffee press
Press works well, makes less coffee than expected. The carafe broke after several uses and replacement cost is close to the price of a new one. Wish it were more hardy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bodum par excellence, April 30, 2009

Elegant design, ease of use, (form follows function), coffee is smooth, never bitter, takes a little adjusting (watch those grounds and adjust for larger cup size) but once you get it dialed in a perfect cup every time. Only wish I had purchased the larger one! Well maybe later. If you really want to refine your experience purchase one of those temperature controlled kettles like Breville. Temperature of the water is always optimal and it will hold it for a short period. Kudos to Amazon again; it arrived, as always earlier than promised.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Bodum press!, February 9, 2010

Bottom line: Get this if you want a quality-feeling press for making a large coffee for 1 in the morning. But be warned, much of the glass surface is exposed and extra care must be taken during wash/storage to lessen chance of damage.

What's high quality about this unit? For starters, the knob at the top and the handlebar on the side are soft, rubbery and rounded - just plain comfortable to use, much like Oxo household products. Next, we have a nice use of sturdy stainless steel for the lid and upper band around the unit. Definitely a step up from the rough feeling plastic of my 'Kenya' model(knob, lid, and enclosure!).

What else do I like? It's short and fat :D. Unlike the narrower-sized units from Bodum, a wider one like this just feels more substantial to hold in hand. I feel that the action of the press is smoother as well, due to a larger circumference and thus less aggressive curve to the mesh.

Though I mentioned at the start that the large amount of exposed glass is sort of a con, I must confess that I wouldn't have it any other way. I love being able to see everything going on inside the press, plus cleaning is a whole lot easier by being able to see clearly from outside as well as not having anything in the way.

I'm contemplating the purchase of a second one as a backup!

After hearing about the best way to brew coffee is via french press, I decided to give it a go, and i must say I am very pleased with my transition. I love the clean aesthetic of the shin bistro, the size is perfect for serving one: me, and most importantly the flavor of the coffee is exquisite with an amazing crema coffee foam on top. My new fav way to drink coffee.

I have several Budum coffee makers and my sister in law was complaing about making small amounts of good coffee. She is delighted.

I like the ability to adjust the strength of the coffee unlike the "one shot" where you are limited to a premeasured amount

My second coffee press. This one is very good. Not a single coffee ground has gotten by the plunger even when I haven't used coarsely ground coffee.

It only makes one big cup of coffee which is fine for me most of the time. Get a larger one if you want to make coffee for two people at the same time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute shape but glass is too thin..., November 27, 2009

I like my new Bodum coffee press, the only thing that concerns me is that the glass seems thin and easily breakable. I take extra care when washing so that I don't drop it in the sink. I just wish the glass was made sturdier so I don't have to worry about it every time I use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee Press for the Office, August 11, 2011

I very much loves my coffee. I have definitely turned into a coffee snob over the last few years and have grown to hate the Bunn coffee maker and cheap coffee that's around at work.

I got this to keep in my office so that I can make a moderate amount of coffee for myself quickly without too much fuss. This is a great size and makes a very good cup of coffee.

I don't use it the traditional way of brewing french press: instead I grind to a medium fineness (like you were going to make drip coffee) and leave it in for 2 minutes exactly before pressing.

Very sturdy and simple device - you can't go wrong with it.

I bought this press to make fresh coffee at my job. I love it, my only complaint is that I can't get the water hot enough in my office to make a really nice hot cup of Joe!
