4.0 out of 5 stars Great press, but the new plunger sucks
The Bodum presses are great. I ordered this one to replace an old one that broke and had long had a damaged handle. I'm glad I kept my old lid/plunger, though, because it seems to work much better than the new one, which seems to have been modified by a committee of corporate lawyers. The new lid is great, but the plunger doesn't seem to go as far down (to prevent me...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Customer Service
Bodum does not stand behind its products. I called regarding a product that broke as I was drying it after having rinsed it out for a first time use. Customer service was rude and unhelpful, basically told me that it "doesn't have a warranty," they "couldn't put a return in the computer," and "the supervisor will tell you the same thing" (and then she laughs). I would not...

The Bodum presses are great. I ordered this one to replace an old one that broke and had long had a damaged handle. I'm glad I kept my old lid/plunger, though, because it seems to work much better than the new one, which seems to have been modified by a committee of corporate lawyers. The new lid is great, but the plunger doesn't seem to go as far down (to prevent me from scalding myself should I be too vigorous, one would presume), and my coffee tasted sour. After a week of that, I switched back to the old lid/plunger--it makes much better coffee.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love french pressed coffee!, November 3, 2006
This review is from: Bodum Bistro 8-Cup Coffee Press (Kitchen)
This is actually the second french press that I've bought, because the first one broke, so be careful with it, the glass is very thin, just like a coffee pot, and fragile. After having a french press for a while, I gave my drip coffee maker away, I don't think I could go back.

If you've never tried a french press before and like full flavored coffee, you owe it to yourself to try one of these. of course For the best flavor you should always grind your beans right before you brew them.

This perticular press comes with a neat little cork base for the glass to sit on which isnt pictured on amazon. Other than that, its pretty much like all the other Bodum french presses that I've ever seen. Nice quality, attractive design (and if this design doesnt suit you, they make many different ones. It's already been stated in other reviews, but I'll say it again, the 8-cup measurement is a little misleading, its actually 4 cups, 32oz, so keep that in mind when thinking of size. If you need to make coffee for more than 2-3 people (depending on how much you like to drink)this size can be a little small. If you need to make more than this at one time I think they make a bigger one, or you could just get two. I wouldnt get anything smaller than this size though, because it still works just as good for making one cup at a time, and since it takes a little bit longer than drip coffee to make, you don't want to have to make one cup then turn around and make another again if you need more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little Coffee press, January 13, 2006
This review is from: Bodum Bistro 8-Cup Coffee Press (Kitchen)
We were very pleased with the size of this press. Others that we have had were too small for more than one cup of coffee but this one easily makes 2 or 3.

Customer service was rude and unhelpful, basically told me that it "doesn't have a warranty," they "couldn't put a return in the computer," and "the supervisor will tell you the same thing" (and then she laughs). I would not buy Bodum again. There are plenty of products on the market that have good design and have a decent customer service department.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best cup of coffee ever..., May 9, 2006

This review is from: Bodum Bistro 8-Cup Coffee Press (Kitchen)
I LOVE my French Press. Coffee tastes so much better when made with a French Press, and this one is super-easy to use. Just add a few scoops of coffee, some hot water, let it sit for a few minutes, and voila! coffee! It's the perfect size for 1-2 cups of coffee. The only improvement would be a rubber/no-slip bottom but there are other versions that have this feature. If you're looking for your first FP, this is the one to get! You won't go back to drip coffee...
