5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic french press!!
I bought this French Press a few weeks ago, partly because I can't resist anything small and cute :) Seriously though, I'd been using a larger one from a popular swedish furniture store for about a year. But I only made half a caraffe full, so this one seemed like a good idea. I make one cup of coffee at a time (I'm the only coffee drinker) and this makes a perfect amount...

1.0 out of 5 stars Nice but broken
I purchased the: Bodum New Brazil 3-Cup French Press Coffee Maker for my wife.
On its third use the glass beaker broke.
I wanted to use glass because of concerns about plastic and hot liquids.
But I had hoped for more than three uses before it broke.

I bought this French Press a few weeks ago, partly because I can't resist anything small and cute :) Seriously though, I'd been using a larger one from a popular swedish furniture store for about a year. But I only made half a caraffe full, so this one seemed like a good idea. I make one cup of coffee at a time (I'm the only coffee drinker) and this makes a perfect amount for one large mug plus a little milk. It's not 3 servings, but generally one "cup" of coffee is understood to be 4 or 6 ounces, not an actual 8 ounce cup.

I can feel the quality difference between this one and my $15 press from the aforementioned furniture store. Easy to clean, cute, and makes great coffee :) Perfect for me!

4.0 out of 5 stars works beautifully, October 29, 2009

works beautifully, but it's a little less than enough coffee. it really only makes one serving, and i wish it were a little more generous. otherwise, it's perfect. easy to clean, lightweight, easy to use.

The product is of very good quality. It performs as it was designed. We enjoy the dark coffee it produces.

We have tried several other brands and have decided finally - that you get what you pay for. This coffee press is excellent. We now have two large and two small presses which is perfect for large dinners and for the flexibility of providing both decaf and regular - only use Peets Coffee - it is also the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little press!, May 9, 2011
I've only used the Chambord style in the past, and like everyone else, I was nervous about the thin carafe, which felt ready to crack at the slightest bump. This press is sturdy enough for my clumsy hands, and works great, plus the thick carafe keeps coffee hot longer than in the Chambord, which has no insulation whatsoever. I like the nifty design and color choices too. Love my new press!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best 12oz press for the money, May 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you want a simple, inexpensive one person/one good-sized serving of coffee, don't bother going to Walmart or Bed&Bath for their lowest priced model. This is the best one you will find for the price.

Some notes: I don't know why they say "3-cup" because that depends on the size of your cup. This makes 12oz of product. Some other reviews mentioned that the strainer is one solid piece. Mine comes apart and reassembles perfectly so don't worry about being able to clean it. The plastic case looks like this will be hard to break even though it is real glass (WAY better than the "unbreakable" ones). But the plastic is sharp and I have to clean carefully so I don't cut myself on the notches along the rim.

The only other bad point is that it seems to cool down fast, so I have to wrap it while brewing.

But the seal is strong and the filter works very well as long as you don't grind your beans too fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars new design puts stress on glass -- it broke in my hands and cut me, October 15, 2010

I'd had a previous 3-cup French Press, the version with a hard-plastic handle and a metal base and ring, and loved it. Eventually, though, the tiny screws that held the handle to the base stripped out, and I had to replace it. For this model. Sadly, their redesign into a single piece of plastic caused more troubles than it solved. The beaker now sits so tightly into the plastic part that it's nearly impossible to remove. The handle, which hooks over the edge of the beaker, is so stiff that after months of worrying about the glass shattering in my hands when I try to remove it, it has finally done so. I was hand-washing it, and in order to get access to the glass, I was pulling the handle off the edge when the edge shattered into sharp pieces. I'm not sure the improvement in manufacturing costs is worth the blood of their customers!

Do not purchase this product.

4.0 out of 5 stars it's pretty, July 22, 2011
I read other reviews before I ordered it. Some reviews said it would have been great if we can separate the glass part to wash it. I totally agree with that. It's a bit narrow and deep to clean up. However, I love this color, it's so pretty and so far it works well.
