Preheating the carafe with warm tap water is advised before filling with hot beverages.

Beautiful and useful but it only lasted two weeks before cracking. It did not hold heat as well as I'd hoped--perhaps not enough air space between layers of glass.

I love this carafe. It rivals any carafe I've seen in style and keeps drinks cold while on the table. I received this carafe as a gift and have found it to be a very useful for everyday dinners and when we have guests over. I haven't ever put hot liquids in it, so I haven't had any trouble with cracks and I've had it for a few years now. If I could wish for something more, it would be a bigger size, but I still highly recommend this carafe.
