Although this carafe looks great, the botton at the top did not lock in properly most of the time and therefore the coffee did not stay hot.

I use to leave a half full glass coffee pot(6+ cups) on the makers hot plate. After a few hours (2) the warming plate turned off. The coffee was left to grow 'old and cold'. Had to then use the microwave If I wanted a hot cup of coffee. Now I can have a hot(to my taste)cup that has been kept vacuum covered & fresh for over 8 hours. Wish I had found this carafe years ago................

This carafe holds heat quite well. I make a single pot using a large cone to drip directly into the carafe and then I sip coffee all morning long.

We wanted a carafe for bringing a pot of coffee upstairs in the morning so we wouldn't have to keep running downstairs to refill it. This carafe performs excellently! A 12 cup pot of coffee fills the carafe and two (starter) mugs. We've never bothered to preheat it with warm/hot water before filling it with coffee, and it still keeps the coffee hot for several hours while we enjoy a leisurely morning. I like it so much I ordered another (in a different color) for tea!

I just wish they came in a 10 oz size for creamer.

Update 12/29/10:
I now own 3 of these carafes, and I still love them... but I have one complaint (and docked one star). The manufacturer claims that they're dishwasher safe, but I wouldn't recommend it. When you put this carafe in the dishwasher, the seal on the bottom loosens enough that the "vacuum" fills with water. The water can (eventually) be drained back out (leaning the carafe to one side and filling it with hot water), but it's obviously not a "vacuum" anymore. Water also collects in the lid, and it takes me about a week of shaking to get the water out (it probably also evaporates in that time).

So, overall, I still like this carafe, but if you plan to wash your carafe in the dishwasher, look for a different one!

I have been through many carafes in my 20 plus years of being a coffee drinker. This one is quite good, but has its flaws. Bought this 12 months ago and brew two-plus pots every day.

The Good

1) The design is beautiful and will compliment any decor.
2) The carafe functionality is easy to use.
3) A FULL carafe will keep coffee piping hot for three hours, and then it wanes. Pretty good.
4) A carafe that is being emptied will stay hot for hours, but of course the insulation is weakened with the empty space that comes when you start emptying the pot

The Not so Good
1) The outer carafe is plastic and does show scratches. Mine is in black, and I see all the scratches and fingerprints.
2) The the seal on the bottom loosens with use and this creates a space where liquid builds up and leaks. Trying to tighten the seal just does not work. Continues to leak.
3) The push mechanism on the cap which releases the flow of coffee sometimes gets stuck.


I would buy another one, only because I love the look, and colors, ... they match my bodum french press. And also, without the leaking, it is a great carafe.

The comments I read from other purchasers were absolutely true. This is the best hot beverage keeper I've ever used! Total quality from handle to lid to container.

I bought this thermous to replace a leaky one I take to work. This thermous leakes too. Where the black plastic collar meets the stanless steel, coffee leaks out all over the place.

After searching for a thermal carafe for several weeks and decided to purchase this one. I'm glad I did.

I made coffee one morning and poured it into the carafe but didnt get a chance to drink it. After I returned home I poured the coffee into a cup thinking I would have to reheat it. I didn't have to reheat the coffee at all. The coffee was still hot. I was amazed. It had been at least 5 hours that it was in the carafe. I definitely recommend this product.

I purchases this for my sister for her new kitchen. She had black accessories, and wanted a nice looking coffee carafe. She was so pleased with the choice I made. She does not have internet service so I picked out her carafe for her. It holds 8 cups of coffee just fine, and keeps it hot all day. You won't be sorry for purchasing this carafe, it is lovely and has nice lines.

Absolutely delighted with this carafe. It keeps my coffee hot in the morning, doesn't leak and looks nice. The press-down closure is different from my old Bodum carafe which screwed open and closed, but I'm very happy with it.
