My new favorite mug!,

This little cup is wonderful for lovers of loose tea. I have to disagree with another reviewer who found it hard to clean the little slits on the bottom; I have had absolutely no trouble with this - a couple of quick rinses gets all the tea leaves out, and none have become impossibly stuck. I really love the design - especially that you can remove the inner glass with the wet tea leaves and place it into the lid - no more waiting around by the sink to dump out the tea leaves after steeping, I can just bring the whole thing to the table as soon as I pour the water in. It is also very delicate and attractive. Truly a wonderful product!

NOT hard to clean.,

I got a Da Chine teapot and I love it! When I purchased, I was only able to read one other product review online about it and it complained about bits of tea getting stuck in the filter and they sent theirs back. I didn't pay attention to the warning, and I'm glad that I didn't. The solution to the filter problem is simple and I love being able to watch my tea brew through the layers of glass! The wrong way: fill filter with tea, and pour water through the filter - this forces bits into the holes. The solution is to simply fill the cup with hot water and fill the filter with tea, then put the filter into the pot. This way no leaves are forced into the holes and clean up is easy. Even when you do it the wrong way, it's not hard to unstick stuck leaves with a kitchen brush.Love it.

Great (but not flawless) infuser.,
This review is from: Bodum The de Chine Personal Tea Glass With Filter (Kitchen)
I use this nearly every day for drinking tea. It's a great infused and cup set. Looks really nice, and shows off the color of the tea and leaves. Also, the wide infuser gives lots of room for the leaves to circulate. The lid also works well a a tray to hold the infuser and catch drips.
There are a few things that could be improved. As other people have mentioned, it's a bit time consuming to clean, because the leaves get stuck in the slits, especially smaller leaf teas. I've found holding the slits right up to the running tap can usually push the stubborn leaves out. The other problem is that the lid and infuser can get quite hot if your brewing a black tea (with boiling temperature water) making it kind of tricky to remove one it's done infusing without burning your fingers. Recommended for green or white teas over black teas.

I should have listened to other reviewers more closely. I, too, received a box of shattered glass from Amazon. I labored over whether or not to leave this feedback and arrived at the fact that its necessary for Amazon to take notice of how they are shipping this particular item. There have been too many of these returned (according to the feedback) due to damage during shipping for me to just sit idle here. Amazon, please modify your method of packaging and insulation for this item. It is not fair to the consumer that nothing has been done to rectify this issue. Thank you for your time and I'm hopeful this is a suggestion you will take seriously.

Love it!!,

Boo Hoo, I just broke my barely month old set and am here to buy another...maybe two.
I have had no trouble getting any leaf unstuck from the slits after use. A few quick rinses did the trick...any wider and the leaves would end up in the cup, which I just hate. The only design decision I question is why they put a pouring lip on a single user cup. I surely am not going to brew my cup of tea and then pour it into another to drink it, so why have it at all.

1. I woen janear version of this. I will buy this because jenaer is no where to be found.
Now. about the lid. I LOVE IT! You can't expect a suction cup fit.. it is glass of course it's goign to rattle.. HELLO??? 1) slits are small tiny infact but my green tea can slide through and SOMETIMES ( 1 cup in ever 10 ) can dangle from the slit. This is fine but never have had an occasion where I can't get it out.. this is impossible unless the people here do not knwo how to do dishes. Ladies, what do you do when something is hard to clean? SOAK IT! I rarely have to soak this though.. just run it under hot water for a few seconds ( perhaps while water is boiling for a new cup ) I just run it under the pull the green tea leaf out. it slides right through.. nothing dramatic.. i can usually just pick it out with my fingers. don't need a business card! to clean I use a paper napkin ( I use it at work and can't possibly imagine using the bacteria laden sponge there ) it gets the infuser clean. I do not use the glass.. I have a larger porcelain mug. but love the ifnuser. This is perfect for those who dislike metal infusers.. and all the rigamoro(sp) of pot to tea to sink of makign loose tea. If you're lazy like me but love ur tea.. this will be your new best friend.. you can leave the tea in the lid until you're ready for a new cup! glass is durable and can be cleaned.. no rust from the metal and no scare of melting plastic or heating plastic in steaming tea.. I love this style and am mor ethan happy to buy more if this happens to break.. it's been a year and I haven't broken it but in case I do I want another one ready to go so there's no waiting for shipping! woo hooo!

The best tea infuser set around,
By
This review is from: Bodum The de Chine Personal Tea Glass With Filter (Kitchen)
This tea cup infuser set is just perfect for me. No more wasteful tea bags! Bodum uses the clearest, thinnest, lightest, and STRONGEST glass to create an exquisite tea experience. Watch the tea leaves dance in the cup, the water bead on the glass lid, sip from a china-weight sturdy cup.
When it comes to asthetic appreciation and pure drinking please, this tea cup is the only way to go!

Nice glass, but packaging from Bodum horrible. Arrived broken as well!,

update: replacement set arrived today. Not broken this time. This tea set works very well.
I thought people were exaggerating about broken glasses during transit but as luck would have it, our set came shattered. I don't blame Amazon as much as I blame Bodum for packaging their set in such cheap packaging. There's no way it can be avoided by Amazon as UPS or USPS will damage the fragile set during transit. I can't believe Amazon hasn't told Bodum to better package their cups. Amazon promptly sent a replacement set and will arrive in one day. I'm hoping the next set is not broken but I can't hold my breath as it seems inevitable that the package will be damaged again during transit. Considering that they're selling glassware, I expect Bodum to package much better than they do. The price they charge for any of their glassware certainly would prompt one to expect much better packaging. 4 stars because of the inadequate packaging. The tea cup itself is pretty nice.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bodum The de Chine Personal Tea Glass With Filter (Kitchen)
Okay - the first one Amazon shipped did have a small crack. So they replaced it free of charge and shipped it out with 1 day shipping. I really like this cup and use it several times a day. It isn't meant for the commute to work but is great around the house, yard, and at work. I have no problems at all with tea leaves being stuck and my favorite teas are not all whole leaf. It is very easy to rinse and reuse. Plus, it's aesthetically pleasing to see the amber colored tea and leaves infusing in the cup.

Best Tea Since China,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bodum The de Chine Personal Tea Glass With Filter (Kitchen)
I just got back from a trip to China that turned me into a budding tea lover. But I came back with my longjing tea and found it awkward to brew and unsatisfying to sip. After picking up this infuser (offline: sorry, Amazon!) for my girlfriend I made a cup at my place before giving it to her. I'm keeping it! It preserves the beauty of loose-leaf brewing while coddling my American fastidiousness: beautiful brewing, leaf-free tea. But now I'm back at Amazon to buy another one... for my girlfriend :-) This product is highly recommended! |
