This product makes very good coffee, and is probably the most attractive "press" style coffee maker out there. The metal surrounding the glass bottle is pretty, and is also meant to protect it against accidental breakage. It also adds to the price. However, the metal absorbs heat, so the coffee does not brew as hot as in Bodum's own 8-cup model. This diminishes the delicious flavor a bit. This is the press to get if you want looks and good flavor, but the 8-cup model is for you if you want the very best flavor. I own both, so I am confident in making this comparison.

The Bodum Eileen 4-cup Coffee Press is the perfect way to make just the right amount of coffee for one or two people. In regards to the other review, I don't agree that the heading is misleading. I have never seen a coffee pot or maker that listed the number of cups based on the 8 oz measuring cup. In coffee terms a cup is usually 4 or 5 ounces per 'cup'. The number of cups is really the number of regular servings not fluid ounces. And with that in mind this product is perfect for making great coffee with out brewing a full sized pot which most of sits to long to enjoy.

All 'cups' are not equal...,

The Bodum french press cups are describing European cup sizes (4oz) and not the American cup (8oz). Bodum sells to an American market & the sellers should be made aware of describing ounces along with numbers of 'cups' when advertising to avoid confusion for the purchaser.

I purchased this French press for my husband several weeks ago and I love it. Happy with the regular coffee maker, I had little interest in the item until I saw it in action for the first time. It's so easy to use and the flavor of the coffee is much smoother. It's also beautiful. I purchased two matching cups at the same time and they remind me of Russian tea glasses---a collecting favorite of mine. I highly recommend this all-around good buy.

Coffee for one...,

I purchased this smaller unit because I prepare coffee for one...and this works wonderfully. I think that it will be necessary to be particularly careful after removing the glass container from the metal frame for cleaning as the glass appears to be very fragile. If you provide the proper ingreditents and grind, it will really do its part to start your day. I am pleased with this purchase.

This is my first french press. I was a little unsure that I would want to do the work and clean it everyday for my coffee, but it turned out to be pretty easy to clean and if you are buying quality coffee it does taste really great using a french press. The Eileen has such a beautiful design that I had to have it and the 4-cupper is just enough for moi.

Nice coffee press...but don't expect to find a timer in the box like the 'other pictures' show...because IT ISN'T INCLUDED. Bodum cheaped out and stopped including the timer apparently which stinks. I bought 4 of these for gifts and was expecting to find the 4-minute timer inside...but found NADA. Oh well...

This is a decent unit. For those who don't take the time to read or can't understand what they read the product listing states the scoop included is for a 4 ounce cup(4 x 4 is 16). The usual sold in the US coffeemaker is a 4-6 ounces per cup capacity. Coffee instructions say usually measures are for a 6 ounce cup. A cup is not what you use or the standard liquid 8 ounce cup. Most advertised 10 and 12 cup coffeemakers hold the same total amount in the carafe. The manufacturer calcultaes what will sell. This has been going on since I bought my first coffeemaker 30 years ago. Caveat emptor!

Mislabeled size,

The 4-cup coffee press is in actuality just 2 cups. The number of ounces is not listed in the sales blurb... What we wanted was 4 cups at 8 ounces each. The 4-cup coffee press is just a bit over 16 ounces. While it says so on the lid of the box it came in, the ounce-capacity is not in the Amazon listing. ...So we returned it...
