For the Espresso Connoisseur, January 8, 2006
This review is from: Bodum Mocca Cordless Electric Espreso Maker -1176
If you're like me, you love espresso and if you're a lot like me, you loved iced espresso. If you don't need a milk frother, then this is for you. I've been brewing espresso for 7 years now and prefer a few things: good beans and a good brewer. This brewer is a no-frills, no baloney add-on features product that simply does espresso. It acts as a small percolator but is better than some of the espresso range-top devices I've seen. Why? Because the really cheap ones are made of aluminium and leaves a taste in the coffee. Geh! So when I saw this I was stoked. It's made of stainless steel and polycarbonite for the top. I love glass, but sometimes plastic is alright as well. Simply put the espresso in the bottom with the cold water, screw on the top, place on electric plug-in pad and presto. In four minutes, bubbling hot espresso brews to the top and into the enclosed container. Best part of this little machine? NO MESS! If you've brewed espresso, you know that it splashes, it leaks and runs and can be a pain to clean up after especially if you have lighter colored countertops. This is no mess. It also automatically shuts off when all of the hot water is brewed through. Great machine, no doubt. Only complaint: the electrical cord is very short so it needs to be right next to an outlet. That's the unfortunate part. However, the machine is not attached to the electrical pad and when you lift it off the pad, it shuts off automatically. Great machine for just brewing espresso. That's it.

Divine Espresso, March 16, 2006
This review is from: Bodum Mocca Cordless Electric Espreso Maker -1176
This little espresso maker makes wonderful espresso. Very smooth and no trace of acidity. I use the coffee from Pete's. It's compact and easy to use. There is like only 6 parts to the whole thing: plastic top, plastic ring, metal ground cover, metal ground holder, metal water holder, power cord with base. The cord looks really short when I first took it out of the box. It turned out it was wound one time under the base. After I unwound it, it is about 2.5ft long.

Bodum Mocca Electric Coffee Maker, March 13, 2011
This review is from: Bodum Mocca Cordless Electric Espreso Maker -1176
I feel compelling to write a review on this unit and I don't usually do that, but due to some negative reviews of this, I need to do so. I own 3 similar makers, this one, the DeLonghi Alicia and the Bodum non-electric, all with same principle, which is to use boiled steam to make coffee. Among these three, this one is the best one. It makes great coffee with the least amount of efforts. The Delonghi is not bad, just not tasting as good ( I'm using it in my office), this one is at home. The non-electric one also makes better tasting coffee than the Delonghi, however, it is a little more cumbersome to use and also not consistently working. Bottom line, this one is a beautiful engineering machine, made in Germany, everything about it exudes quality and works every time with steaming hot coffee (despite what was said by one of the reviewers). The only time when it does not make hot coffee is when you put in warm/hot water or without cooling it down first before putting in water. I recommend it highly.
