4.0 out of 5 stars Great replacement but be careful of the size
When I received it, it was half the size of my press! Their 4 cup is actually 2 mugs. If your press makes about 4 mugs of coffee, then you need the 8 cup replacement. The 4 cup did fit in my press so I kept it and it works great.

1.0 out of 5 stars Glass Breaks Too Easily
If you are thinking of buying this product-- you already know the Glass Breaks. You may think you did something wrong, but the problem is that the special BoroSilicate glass Bodum uses is much too fragile, and apparently breaks for no reason at all. Or perhaps the reason is that unlike normal glass which is one of the hardest substances known, this glass scratches...

If you are thinking of buying this product-- you already know the Glass Breaks. You may think you did something wrong, but the problem is that the special BoroSilicate glass Bodum uses is much too fragile, and apparently breaks for no reason at all. Or perhaps the reason is that unlike normal glass which is one of the hardest substances known, this glass scratches easily if it comes in contact with any metal or other hard surface, and then subsequently shatters.

So Instead of buying this replacement beaker, which I assure you will only be the first of many, get a new press made of unbreakable plastic LEXAN or one made of a different and less fragile type of glass.

1.0 out of 5 stars First photo is misleading, November 11, 2011
This review is from: Bodum Replacement 2-Cup Spare Glass (Kitchen)
The main photo with this listing is of the taller, narrower carafe that Bodum calls 1503. What you actually get is a short, squat one, 1504. The second photo and the description are correct, but if you're looking at the first image and thinking, "Yeah, that's what I want" ... it's not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great replacement for delicate part, January 29, 2009

Look at these things the wrong way and they break. The first press should be free because over the lifetime you'll spend far more in replacement beakers than the cost of the press. But if you insist on supporting this flawed design then this is a good way to keep the coffee flowing (or keep the wife happy). Be sure to measure your old (broken) beaker to match up with the correct replacement part.

2.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate Description, August 12, 2008
This review is from: Bodum Replacement 2-Cup Spare Glass (Kitchen)
"Product Features" are inaccurate: "Fits all Bodum 4-cup coffee press models and styles". Bodum's 4-cup Melior model is a different size. Bodum does not offer replaceable glass beakers for models that have been discontinued. This is terrible customer service, especially considering that sooner or later glass beakers will break.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a replacement--what's the question?, October 8, 2008

If you need a replacement beaker for your Bodum glass coffee press, this is it. It fits fine in the cage, just like the original one. If you think I'm going to say "don't buy this because the coffeemaker is no good" why would I? If I thought that, I would not buy a replacement and I would not bother to come here and lecture you about it. Rather, I'd do a good review for a coffeemaker I DID like, after chucking this one out. Yes I would. And I am not going to tell you, "glass breaks so be careful" either because--you know--that's obvious. So, if you break your Bodum, get this replacement beaker instead of a whole coffeemaker. Unless you threw it away before thinking, "Maybe I could just buy a new glass thingie." Then you'll have to buy a whole new one. Too bad, too, because here's a nice replacement and it's cheaper than buying a new one. Bye now.

4.0 out of 5 stars sizes confusing, but great product, October 17, 2011

I broke our Bodum beaker by hitting it against the garbage can to get the grinds to shake out. My only complaint is that the original beaker and the new beaker both don't say the size anywhere- so I assumed it was a 4 cup, ordered the new 4 cup..and luckily was right. I even measured 4 cups of water in the broken one to test my guess...but it wasn't exactly 4 cups. Oh well. They should probably make it easier to know which size the beaker is, and amazon should make that clear in the product titles. Other than that....great *fragile* product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Replacement for Your Oh-So-Fragile 17 oz. Bodum Glass Carafe., May 14, 2011
This review is from: Bodum Replacement 2-Cup Spare Glass (Kitchen)
If you own a Bodum French press, you'll probably have occasion to replace the glass carafe eventually. Mine lasted two years before the spout shattered when I accidentally knocked it against another glass item in my dish rack. This #1504-10 replacement carafe or "spare glass", as Bodum puts it, has a capacity of 0.5 liters or 17 fl.oz. and is approximately 5 inches high and just over 3 3/4 inches in diameter. It fits Bodum's 4-cup glass coffee presses, though I am not sure it fits every model. Mine is a Chambord. It's best to check the dimensions and capacity of your broken carafe to make sure. This carafe will not fit locking lid or double wall models.

Keep in mind that the 4 cups refer to European cups, which are about 4 ounces. The 4-cup model holds 2 American 8-ounce cups. If you have trouble getting your replacement carafe to fit in the frame, loosen the screw at the top of the handle. My replacement carafe is of slightly thicker borosilicate glass than the original, which is fine by me. I don't expect it will prevent another mishap, though. I noticed that Bodum now offers its Chambord coffee press with a "shatterproof" carafe made of BPA-free SAN plastic. It's not as attractive, but it's an option if you're frustrated by shattering glass. I like the look of mine so much that I will risk the glass for the time being.

3.0 out of 5 stars One inch diameter?, August 23, 2011
This review is from: Bodum Replacement 2-Cup Spare Glass (Kitchen)
The ad states 3.75 inch circumference. That would be about an inch in diameter.(To the Einsteins who write these up).
