Love the product, but I have now broken two beakers by simply pouring hot water into the beaker. In both cases, they cracked (and then exploded) leaving a most interesting mess to clean up.

Upon closer inspection of the beaker, it is clear that it is made with ZERO extra material and heft. This makes sense for the manufacturer from a materials and shipping standpoint, but it will certainly affect durability and value for the consumer.

Now that I'm considering a THIRD replacement, I'm wondering what other options are available.

Numerous times on this page this beaker is described as being 4 1/3 inches wide and one time it's true size 5 1/2 inches is stated. May it be known, this one is NOT 4 1/3 inches wide!!!

its a good thing I can find them on Amazon and at a price that I have yet to find cheaper! Bodum makes the best ever coffee press. Im a coffee purest and using glass-beaker only presses makes the best cup. Instead of replacing the whole press when a beaker breaks, get the genuine Bodum replacement on here thereby saving $20 to purchase the whole thing. Quality for sure and they will last if you take care and dont drop yours in the sink like I did mine. Use a swizzle stick to stir coffee as you pour ensuring no cracks. Thanks Amazon!

Arrived intact, fit nicely into the stand. The one I broke was even usable while I waited for the new one to ship. There was a small piece broken from the top edge.

The glass I received as a replacement actually fit better than my old one. Prompt Shipping and a relief that I didn't have to buy a whole new unit.

...and you'll understand why you need at least one extra carafe on hand. If you're going to buy the champagne of coffeemakers, the Bodum 12-cup, do yourself a favor and spring for the replacement glass now.

By the time you're reading this review, you've already experienced some event between a nuisance and a disaster involving your OEM Bodum oversized coffee press beaker. Well, this one is just like the one that crashed to the floor, fell in the sink, shattered in the dishwasher or whatever. But now you know better, so this one you will likely handle with somewhat more care, as befits so fragile a vessel. Good news: We broke our original in a month but have had the replacement for six months. Still makes great coffee. We decided not to attempt removing the beaker from the holder for cleaning, a misstep that led to the destruction of our original issue.

I've replaced this twice now. The new one is actually thicker glass. Seems more durable.

Doesn't fit in the plastic holder as tight as the old one.

Although it seems more durable, it is glass and I fully expect it will break again.

This is exactly what it says it is- it fits my Bodum french press. I would order two at a time, though, because they do tend to break easily. My last one randomly cracked one time after pouring in the boiling water.

This is the perfect replacent fro the Bodum 12 cup coffee press. The price is fair, and I bought two just to have a backup.
