5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! functional and striking design
We just got these glasses and we love them! The double wall provides hot and cold insulation without heat transfer between the layers. You can drink hot tea or coffee while still handling them comfortably, and iced drinks stay cold a long time. My husband and I do not agree on style very often, but we both love the look and feel of these glasses. Highly...

It's been about a little over a month since I purchased a sizable quantity of these glass for home everyday use (assorted sizes, 24 count total), and two glasses have spontaneously cracked on us. Other than using them for everyday-use, we have been very careful with them - they've been washed with a soft sponge, we have a designated space in the cabinet to store them...

Twenty years from now, these will be considered classics!

5.0 out of 5 stars style and function combined, June 16, 2010

I have been using this product for over 6 years now and I still have the very first ones I bought. The others I have broken but not because of the product, just my own carelessness. The double wall is amazing for hot or cold liquids. It keeps the hot liquid from burning your hand and if you live in a humid environment it keeps the glass from sweating pretty well. I have not needed a coaster since I bought this product. It is a product that combines good taste and functionality in one. I'll definitely come back for more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully designed, functional, hand-made near-perfection, September 28, 2009
This review is from: Bodum Thermo-glass Pavina Double Wall Thermo-Glasses, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
I ordered the 9-ounce version six months ago to use with my daily tea and my occasional Scotch. I am happy with my purchase and here it is why:

- The borosilicate glass, besides being strong, is the least likely to be stained by coffee or detergents. Six month later, I can confirm: no stains whatsoever.

- The double-wall design keeps the hot drinks (my tea) hot longer and prevents condensation from forming when holding cold drinks.

- Can pour in very hot drinks without the glass cracking. Not only am I pouring literally near-boiling tea, but the double wall keep the exterior cool.

- Dishwasher safe (but use common sense because even borosilicate glass is still glass). I almost always wash them by hand.

- Hand-made in China.

- Beautiful design.

The only slight disappointment, but I got over it, was the initial 'feel' of the glasses. By just looking at the glasses, you would expect something heavy, crystal like but they are not. It's not surprising, given that the walls are not solid glass but two thin layers of extra-strong glass with air in between. They also don't 'sound' like crystal. So, if the weight and the sound don't bother you, these are great glasses.

I must confess, one of the 2 glasses broke a couple of months ago - someone dropped it - so I was left with only one glass since. I am about to order another pair now, just in case.

It's been about a little over a month since I purchased a sizable quantity of these glass for home everyday use (assorted sizes, 24 count total), and two glasses have spontaneously cracked on us. Other than using them for everyday-use, we have been very careful with them - they've been washed with a soft sponge, we have a designated space in the cabinet to store them (not stacked), etc. These glasses are just not cut out for everyday use. We have been using the glasses to drink warm (hot chocolate) and cold drinks (iced beverage). Both broken glasses spontaneously cracked at the bottom while it was sitting on the desk holding a drink. At first, I thought someone had accidentally slammed it, but I actually witnessed the spontaneous cracking when the second glass broke.

I am very disappointed with the functionality of the product. I'm a sucker for good designs, but I expect a reasonable level of durability. These glasses have been incredibly sub standard - my cheap ikea glasses I bought for $5/dozen have fared better. Maybe these glasses are meant to be put away in some display case, only to be used for special occasions... but what's the point of buying glasses if you are not going to use them?

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well-made; beware there are two versions, December 16, 2011

I originally bought four of these around 2008 for tea/coffee and work and home. (They also function as a fine rocks glass on hot days.) They get used every day and have proven to be very well-made. I have read more than a few reviews of people complaining that they're easy to break, but that may be due to the variations between glasses; mine have certainly held up well. They get both hand-washed and put in the dishwasher, though I generally do the former just for convenience. (Tea and black coffee don't leave much to wash! It only takes a swipe of the sponge and a swish of water to clean them.)

I broke one glass (dropped from waist-high onto a wood floor) about a year ago and my wife purchased a pair of replacements. The old glasses were one continuous film of glass with no holes. The new glasses have a small silicone "dot" seal filling the blow hole in the bottom. The paper that came with the glasses says this is a design improvement to allow atmospheric pressure equalization. While the new glasses haven't shown any problems such as moisture infiltration, etc., the little silicone dot on the bottom somewhat detracts from the aesthetics of the glasses. It is simply worth noting if you're familiar with the old continuous design.

Regardless, the whole package is beautiful and certainly works well to keep heat losses/gains through the walls down to a minimum. Two thumbs up. I like them so much that I'm thinking of buying a set of 12-13 oz. beer glasses in this design.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low quality products, November 26, 2011

Purchased 3 sets (6 glasses), I used once, washed and I had to exchange 2 out of 6 due to condensations inside the vacuum space. I barely use these glasses as they are really party glasses, took them out this Thanksgiving weekend, washed them again and another 3 had condensations inside the vacuum glass after washing them. No really, I am very disappointed with this product. I'm trying to return these but the availability period is passed... I'll take is as my worst buy of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best martini on the rocks glass ever!, May 10, 2010

Simply put this glass does an excellent job of keeping iced liquid chilled. My preferred drink is a martini on the rocks. The drink remains chilled for a more than ample amount of time. This allows me to cut down on the amount of ice, thereby improving on the taste. Also I can enjoy my beverage at a more lesiurely pace.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful look - until they broke after only 1 week!, January 11, 2009
This review is from: Bodum Thermo-glass Pavina Double Wall Thermo-Glasses, Set of 2 (Kitchen)
We had received these glasses as part of the set with the French Press. We loved how beautiful they were and that we did not need to use a coaster at all. We used them for coffee and iced drinks, which they worked and looked great. Then after one week, one of them just cracked while it was sitting on our table. The liquid leaked in the section with air. We were very careful with these glasses and hand washed them gently. The other one is still ok, but now we just have one. I don't know if it was a fluke or not but for the price we were disappointed with the quality. We were planning on buying more as presents because the the style and usability but now we most likely won't.
