4.0 out of 5 stars surprise
This product was a pleasant surprise for me. I purchased the davinci tool because it looked good for releasing muscle tension in my shoulder. It has 3 sides to it with one of the sides allowing you to rest the back of your head on for relief. What I did not expect was how well that same side on the tool relieves tension in the lower back as it cradles your spine. That...

I work on a computer 12 hours a day and my upper back/shoulders/neck become sore and painful. Pressure point therapy works well for my problem so I thought the DaVinci tool looked promising. This little block of rubber had really good potential. It worked well on my neck but as soon as I put it under my shoulder, it collasped like a wet cracker box.

4.0 out of 5 stars surprise, July 13, 2007

This product was a pleasant surprise for me. I purchased the davinci tool because it looked good for releasing muscle tension in my shoulder. It has 3 sides to it with one of the sides allowing you to rest the back of your head on for relief. What I did not expect was how well that same side on the tool relieves tension in the lower back as it cradles your spine. That feeling alone was worth the investment.

I am using this product at the base of my skull to open up my cervical vetebrae. It is just the right hardness and size. I am sure any massage therapist would enjoy having this tool. I am an RN and a Massage Therapist.

5.0 out of 5 stars surprised, as well, August 17, 2007

I didn't much like the Davinci Tool when I first tried it. It seemed really hard and hurt a bit. But over time I've found that it's exactly the right 'strength' for me. I use it every night when I'm watching TV before bed. I lay on the floor and use it on my back, calves, and hamstrings. I especially like how it can get under your shoulder blade, like in the picture. It's really not that expensive, so I recommend you give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great davinci tool!, May 13, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you are a fan of the softer davinci tool (red one found all over amazon), then you will probably like this one. The difference is that the red one actually collapses or gives under a reasonable amount of weight while this one does not. It is made of a harder plastic and is not pliable. Whether you find this useful will really depend on how much weight you put on the tool when you use it. I use this to apply pressure (or crack) my lower back. The softer version will not support the weight necessary to do this, while this one does. On the flipside, if you will probably only use the tool on your neck/upper shoulder area, then I would recommend getting the red davinci tool.

I can't say it's good or not-so-good, but for my use, I found it didn't meet my expectations. First, the rubber wedge was the same density all around. I think it would be more effective if one of the sides was constructed of a harder material. I found when I tried to tuck it behind my back, the wedge either rolled or collasped. Either way I wasn't getting the point pressure I needed.

I really can't recommend this as you can get the same results from a mini-tennis ball or similar small toy. It does help relieve the pressure in the neck but to work down and through the rest of the back, this tool lacks. Perhaps if they go to a harder rubber I'd buy it again but this one is for the dogs. In fact, I stuff a little peanut butter in the groves and the boyz are very happy with their new toy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Massage Tool, May 25, 2007
This review is from: Davinci Tool, Soft (Health and Beauty)
I am a registered massage therapist & found this tool to be very user friendly. My favorite side of the tool is the rounded edge, it works great for the muscles on either side of the spine. The flat side is also great for resting the sacrum on - which relieves lower back pain. The pointed side is useful for working the bottom of the feet. Overall a great little investment!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tool for chronic muscle tension, November 17, 2009
This review is from: Davinci Tool, Soft (Health and Beauty)
I don't usually post reviews but I just had to sing the praises of this massage tool. I have the theracane, which is also a wonderful invention, but I have a hard time getting the proper angle and leverage for two of my worst trouble spots - the base of my skull and right behind my shoulder blade. It took a little experimenting, but I'm able to reach everywhere with this, including some knots in my face that I didn't even know about. To answer some reviewers' complaints about the lack of a manual, I agree with the makers that this tool's effectiveness is really all about you learning how to use it for your particular needs. For instance, I tried to replicate the picture of the woman using it behind her shoulder blade and it didn't do anything for me... but I changed the angle and positioning and got it to go exactly where I needed it. Even better is the fact that my hands/arms don't get tired like with the theracane, since I'm using my body weight to apply pressure to my trouble spots.

I bought the hard version of the DaVinci tool (the blue one), and I'm glad I did. I've had moderate/severe bruxism for years (nighttime teeth grinding/jaw clenching), and that makes for some tough, persistent muscle knots. I think the red version would have been too soft for me.

This is a great little tool. My only regret is not buying two of them - I keep "losing" it... mysteriously I keep finding it sitting on my husband's desk. Hooray for tools that work!

This is a "different" tool to use but very effective. It is great for working out the knots in the muscles but it is hard to get use to. I use it against the wall for the upper back and scapula areas working in smal circles or up and down motions to work the trigger points. I tis great on the floor for the neck! Especially at the base of the skull. The directions say that it can be used to massage a partner but I don't like how it feels . I can't "feel" the muscles I am working. But it is good to massage my legs and glutes as long as there is oil to help with the friction. I to recommend it for anyone who needs to do self massage and trigger point pressure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magic Triangle, October 4, 2009
By
This review is from: Davinci Tool, Soft (Health and Beauty)
This simple little tool has really saved my sanity on many occasions. I don't leave town without it, and it is light and easy to pack in my suitcase. I have a long history of migraines and muscle tension from several car accidents. My neck and shoulders are always tense, even after I sleep. I am 5'8" and about 130lbs. The DaVinci Tool Soft is the perfect size and weight for me to be able to rest the base of my head on the pointy or rounded points for some much-needed tension relief. I also use the rounded points under my shoulder blades to release the pressure there. My husband, however, is about 6' and 170lbs, and he insisted that the triangle is too small for him. I now wonder, based on some of these reviews, if he would be better served by the DaVinci Tool Firm (rather than this soft version). Thus, if you are a smaller-framed person, this tool might be best for you, but if you are larger or heavier, perhaps the firmer version would work better. However, I didn't notice any type of official weight guidelines for this tool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little tool, December 29, 2008
This review is from: Davinci Tool, Soft (Health and Beauty)
This is a great little tool for pressure point therapy. I bought it because of a shoulder strain and used it for a minute or two every night. It relieved the muscle tension better than most cures. Also works great for relieving tension in my neck that causes headaches. Compact enough for travel. I highly recommend.
