For its portability (i.e. size), it's pretty indispensable. It's smaller than a couple of tennis balls, so can easily fit in any overnight bag. Take it on trips and you'll always have a bit of relief available to you if back pains start up. You can't take your larger stay-at-home back devices, but you can take this. It doesn't work as well as the larger devices, but is definitely better than nothing, especially when you're away from home and desperate. I'm usually able to get a few cracks with it for a bit less relief than at home, but relief, nonetheless.

The thing is that, being wood, it's awfully uncomfortable. I've read that discomfort with similar devices often goes away after the first few uses, but it hasn't for me with this device. It's about as comfortable as lying on sculpted wood sounds. A similar product, the popular DaVinci Tool, is flexible and comes in hard and soft forms and sounds like a more comfortable device for achieving a similar result at a similar size. It's a bit more expensive, but I'm thinking of buying one eventually and kind of wish that I had in the first place. So, while this device does the job and is a good size at a good price, you may want to consider paying a bit more for a device that you'll be more "comfortable" with, pun intended. If you don't mind compromising comfort for price, though, this'll do ok.

Glad Amazon had it and was glad to buy it. The BEST thing you can do for your back is have one of these in your bag or car.

It is a smooth wood back roller that works beautifully to release tension in lower back muscles. Highly recommend!

I like the wooden hardness of it. One issue is that I don't understand why the two knobs have to be different! It's not about aesthetics - they feel different. So I have to turn it around to experience the same feel on both sides. Another issue is that it arrived with a deep crack. I wondered if my clothes would constantly get caught in it, but luckily not.

This roller is really nice in concept and is attractive and sturdy. Moreover, it does give a nice massage. However, the one I received suffered from two flaws. (1) Since there was no rubber track and the wood was smooth, it slipped very easily. (2) The other edge had a slightly greater diameter than the inner edge, so instead of rolling straight down my spine, it would roll in an arc. Both of these requiring me to contort my arms to continually adjust the roller, which I ultimately returned. I ended up purchasing the Body Back Company Back Roller instead, which I've been pretty happy with.

I use this regularly. It really gets into my back and loosens up the area around my spine. It's also very easy to pop my back afterwards. I recently used this to massage my girlfriend and she loved it. I rolled along her back and used the little nub on really tense spots.

I've been using this item for years so I bought it for a friend of mine and now he loves it too. It is great for getting the kinks out of you're back and loosening up the spine.

I like carrying along my Ma roller as a way to relax on trips, but the regular size Ma is a little bulky. This is a great compromise.
