Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Build chiseled, ripped, powerful arms faster than you ever thought possible with the Big Guns portable workout machine. Guaranteed to pack one full inch of muscle on your arms in just 30 days, the Big Guns is ideal for folks who don't have the time or inclination to visit a commercial gym every day or two. The Big Guns owes its effectiveness to its patented double pivot arm, which works your biceps and triceps through the entire range of motion. The breakthrough fitness technology features one pivot that travels horizontally and another that travels vertically. Combined, this allows the Big Guns to move like nothing else can--not just up and down, but also back and forth in a curved, sweeping arc. The motion is smooth, fluid, and completely natural, resulting in maximum muscle building with each and every rep.

The Big Guns is custom designed to develop your bicep and tricep muscles. The two heads of the biceps group (known as the biceps brachii) comprise the upper portion of the upper arm (the short head, or outer biceps, and the long head, or inner biceps). The best biceps movements--known as the "mass builders"--are those that provide the greatest stimulus across both the long and short heads. The Big Guns trains these muscles for greater overall upper arm size and bigger biceps from top to bottom. The triceps group (triceps brachii), meanwhile, includes three heads: the lateral, medial, and long head. The Big Guns is built to fully develop all three of these heads, which make up about two-thirds of the muscle mass on your arms. With the Big Guns tricep extensions, you can quickly achieve razor-sharp definition and pack mammoth muscle mass on your arms.

Other details include 130 pounds of torsion flex resistance for maximum results, a steel frame that's built to last a lifetime, and a fully portable design that rolls just about anywhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Guns? There are better ways, March 4, 2007
This review is from: Body By Jake Big Guns (Sports)
Easy assembly, the parts fit nicely. The problems began when I tried to use it.

Bicep curls: The handles are a bit too far apart, at least for me. They are also flat. The preferred method for doing curls is with the hands angled, as with a cambered or easy-curl bar. Some might disagree with this; I find a flat grip aggravates my elbow joints. One mine, one of the handle squeaked until I places some body-powder in the grip. The motion is not as fluid as it seems to be in the video.

Triceps Press: Getting the handles into position after loading the rubber weights is awkward; the foot platform slipped out from under me when I tried to get into position. After getting the handle into position, it worked all right.

Cable curls and triceps press down are much better. I sent mine back, which cost me close to $90; so think about their return policy if you want to try it. I cannot recommend this device, but others might like it. I'd like to hear other opinions.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great workout appliance, but has its flaws..., June 9, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Body By Jake Big Guns (Sports)
After reading what little quantity of reviews out there on this product and seeing how overly-hyped the infomercial is on the "body-by-jake" website, I decided to set the record straight and try this product myself. Who knows I might actually get a good arm workout. So I got the appliance pretty fast, was easy to assemble. So I just used the product my OWN way without reading the instructions and found that I could easily stretch all the resistance bands within the 10-12 rep range. After a few weeks I gotno real results. After opening the instruction manual, it was quite a different story. They have you performing the reps in strict form (yes keep back straight, and don't rock or cheat) for 2 seconds each rep. Which makes going through the resistance bands even harder. I did notice more definition, tightness, and overall size to my arms over the course of just 2 weeks. And don't ever remember putting this much effort in to working my arms. I of course supplement with a high protein diet and take protein before and after workouts. Done correctly you even get that FEEL where you KNOW you worked the hell out of your arms. So if you are able to discipline yourself with strict form. And following the basic workout format:

Set 1: 25 reps 1 sec each
Set 2: 20 reps 2 sec each (make sure the resistance is such that, that you
perform about 20 reps any more reps and the weight is too light)
Set 3: 17-20 reps 2 sec each
Set 4: 15 reps (raise or lower weight as needed)
Set 5: 10 reps (increase weight)

Now my only complaint is that I find that the 4 x 25lb bands and the 2 x 15lb bands do not give me enough of a smooth transition so I can add a more "gradual" scheme of weight. This is offset by the number of reps you can do, however, I would LIKE to stay within the range of the product instructions if I were to increase, since the rep levels are already approaching an "aerobic" type of workout. This product can be improved by increasing the length of the band holder so it can hold more resistance bands and also increasing the variety of resistance bands such that you can increment it in 10 lb increases up to 150 lbs of total resistance.
As far as the tricep routine is concerned, i feel the the tricep feature on the machine is about 50% easier than the biceps using good form. So maybe 2 x 50lb resistance bands are needed to offset this problem (either that or I'm just the MAN when it comes to tricep training)

Overall, I feel the that product delivers if you are disciplined enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, it's a great product, June 29, 2009
This review is from: Body By Jake Big Guns (Sports)
I've been using the Big Guns program for the past 3 weeks. I must say at first I wasn't all that impressed. I was mainly looking for a piece of equipment to workout my biceps and triceps other than using traditional weights. Oddly enough like one of the other reviews, I tried using the system my way and simply saw little or no results. I finally opened up their instructions and started doing it the way they suggested. I could barely make it through the workout. It took everything I had. My only complaint(s) is with the range of motion and the resistance bands. The motion could be a little better and I feel as though they should add some lighter and heavier bands as you go through the transition. More than anything else I just mentioned, I've used this product for the past 3 weeks along with a good diet program + protein and can honestly say I can see noticeable definition. As with any workout program or product, you've simply got to be dedicated, try not to overdue it, follow the instructions, and go from there. It's working for me, hope it works for you!
