Could we -- Homo sapiens -- have just happened through a series of evolutionary changes over thousands of years? Careful examination of the human body reveals that macroevolution of Homo sapiens is not possible. The more intricately one explores human anatomy and physiology, the more obvious creation by a Master Creator becomes. The more scientific research discovers about the functioning of the human body, the more obvious a planned, "intelligent design" by God becomes.
High school and college anatomy and physiology textbooks usually present an evolutionist view without presenting accurate, truthful explanations of what is known and what is theory. Even in clinically-oriented texts that used to be "neutral," such as human anatomy, physiology, and microbiology, we now see Darwinian philosophy and medicine interwoven throughout. Logical reasoning and statistical explanations for these "new" developments of human structure, function, and disease are not discussed. References from other scientists that mention God are not accurately quoted, or worse, not acknowledged at all.

Body by Design presents human anatomy and physiology clearly, accurately and truthfully. Purposeful, intricate design of structure and function are discussed. The evidence for logical, deliberate design by God is interwoven into a detailed explanation of the human body systems. Body system relationships to one another are explored. Students are challenged to think through the evidence -- the facts as we know them today -- and to consider the statistical likelihood of macroevolution. The end result is an effective, interwoven presentation of anatomy, physiology and creation.

This is an amazing mix of creation science and intelligent design. I highly reccomend it not only for a textbook but for a top resource in anybody's library. Gillen does a great job of pointing out that creationists embrace science and have no problem with natural selection, mutations, antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and much more. This book is a great resource for refuting evolutionary thinking with science.

Overall, the book is good. Good content, well-organized, satisfactory illustrations. The questions at the end of each chapter, however, made this book a little difficult to use as a textbook (which is how we used it). The questions are good questions, but all of them aren't clearly answered in the text. For example, in chapter 15 the author asks about Galen's misconceptions pertaining to blood and blood flow. Throughout the chapter, Galen's "false teachings" are referred to without explicit detail. What exactly were these false teachings? The answer key (found free online -- Google "Body By Design Answer Key") provides a good answer, but the answer wasn't found clearly in the text. This problem caused some head-scratching and was one we encountered more than once.

Body by Design is a great overview of the human body from a decidedly creationist point of view. I'm a creationist and wanted to learn how our body works without the unnecessary Darwinian evolution interferring with the observational science. I was only somewhat impressed with the book. It covers alot of topics but simply wasn't very interesting to read. But that is just my opinion. I'm sure it was a challenge for the author to cover all the aspects of our body while also making it interesting for all age levels. Regardless, you will learn about the intriciate design our Creator made for us, so I do recommend the book.

Layout a bit strange, but learning is a great challenge this day and age, and experiencing it while reading this book provides a good experience.

Awesome book! This does not replace my Anatomy textbook, by any means. However, it is somewhat technical and gives some great insight to some common arguments for evolution that are misguided.

This book is written in an apologetic way--science supporting Biblical truths. It is what we wanted so that the Truth would be revealed
