Emma Lachance's plans for a new life come crashing down when her friend is found murdered in a most gruesome manner at a construction site. Instead of divorcing her abusive husband, her focus shifts to dealing with the other woman's death and the sudden reentry of Finn Duhan, her old flame, into her life. For much of the book, Emma simply copes, then there is another death, and another. All the victims are members of a support group, one Emma belongs to, and so she is a probable next victim, unless Finn can find and stop the killer.
*** Until the last quarter of the book, the pacing is rather slow and meandering. Emma is a frustrating heroine. You wish she would do something about her bad marriage sooner. There is an action filled ending, but the killer is fairly easy to spot early on. *** Amanda Killgore

Body of Evidence,

Nothing better then opening up a Stella Cameron book, and BODY OF EVIDENCE is no exception.
There are just no words to describe on how good BODY OF EVIDENCE by Stella Cameron is. Somebody is killing the women of a local support group in Pointe Judah, Louisiana and Emma LaChance may be on his list of soon to be victims, but not if Finn Duhon her former high school crush has anything to say about it. The victims are all members of a support group that has given Emma the courage she needs to leave her abusive husband, but will she live long enough to have a future with Finn? I just love anything Stella Cameron writes and this is no exception. Her characters come alive and her villains give you the creeps, and will stay with you for days after you finish the last page. Get BODY OF EVIDENCE, you can thank me later. :)

How did this book ever get published?,
By
This review is from: Body of Evidence (Mass Market Paperback)
I have read several books by this author, and found them intriguing enough to keep buying her work. This should have been a typical romantic suspense in the deep south, complete with serial killer and happy ending. From the back cover, that's what it was...but then you got to the actual writing and it was awful. The heroine was weak, and so stupid both her husband and the killer commented on it. The only Southern stereotype that the author missed was blatant racism, but then again, there were no people of color mentioned. Finally, the storyline for the murders was so disjointed it made little sense. Body of trash!

Forgettable,

This book is so forgettable, I've already forgotten the plot, and pretty much everything about the book. It just doesn't stand out from the pack of "romantic suspense" novels out there - a generic, by-the-guidelines text, there is no reason to bother reading it because it is just like any other book of its type out there. Save your time for a better novel.

This was the first Stella Cameron book that I have read and thought it was a great read. I think it had a lot of humor, romance, and suspense. I plan on reading her other books!

A friend gave me this to read and I LOVED IT! I've now read Body of Evidence and am ordering the rest of the series as well as other Stella Cameron books That I have missed over the years. She makes Louisianna come alive and the characters, good and evil, draw you in to their lives. With so many dull and poorly written books out there I am thrilled to be reminded why I love Stella Cameron's books!

This can't be written by Stella Cameron,
This review is from: Body of Evidence (Mass Market Paperback)
The writing in this book is unbelievable. At times it makes absolutely no sense. The actions of Emma and Finn are ridiculous. I read all the wonderful books by S. Cameron but the quality of her work certainly has depreciated. I thought this book which was suppose to be a suspense rather silly.

action packed romantic suspense thriller,
This review is from: Body of Evidence (Mass Market Paperback)
In Pointe Judah, Louisiana, Emma Lachance is unhappy with her marriage to the town mayor as Orville is a womanizing cheat who verbally abuses her in private while adoring her in public; she knows his rages having witnessed dishes and TVs smashed. She considers a divorce, but has feared to do so until she found an encouraging support group. Meanwhile she receives a pleasant surprise when she runs into Finn Duhon, who once had a crush on her.
However, as Emma and Finn talk and walk, they are stunned when they find the corpse of local reporter Denise Steen, who has ripped into the corrupt mayor and town council. Not long afterward other corpses of influential females follow. Emma ponders whether the link is Secrets, a support group for women as each of the dead persons belonged to the organization. She also wonders if she, as a member, could be next and whether her spouse is behind the homicide growth industry. Emma turns to Finn, a former special ops soldier, to help her investigate what is happening to her town. BODY OF EVIDENCE is an action packed romantic suspense thriller that grips the audience the moment the lead couple discover the first corpse and never slows down until the final confrontation. Emma is a courageous individual who because she is smart and brave will keep the audience wondering why she stayed so long with odious abusive Orville. Finn is a classic type hero coming to the aid of the woman he loves (though it is convenient that his former occupation is special ops and his timing in terms of coming home impeccable). Still this is an exhilarating thriller that has several Stella twists to keep readers wanting to know what next. Harriet Klausner

Nothing better than a good laugh!,
By Stella Cameron (Seattle, Washington USA) - See all my reviews

It's fun to read a book that treats the reader as if he/she has a brain. This is not for the three-book-a-day-skipper, but if you enjoy romantic suspese that isn't formulaic, this is the book for you. The author has a good time and doesn't hold back. You have to like creepy, shocking, and sexy stories with a plot that makes you think.
