I have always been looking for ways to get in shape and loose weight. I have tried all the unhealthy fad diets and none of them worked. I have read Tom Venturo's Ebook Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. I found The Ebook very informative but very technical.The Body Fat Solution takes the information discussed in the Ebook and makes it easier to read and understand.
The main concepts discussed in the book are; How to increase your metabolism to burn fat. Build lean muscle. Improve your emotional eating (bingeing is the main one.) How to be positive and be social. Eat foods you enjoy and stop obsessing over food. How to change your attitude and beliefs. How to maintain your weight and never diet again. The book helps you to understand why your eating habits are so messed up and teaches you steps on how to fix them. The book is divided into 4 parts that helps to tie the information together. Part 1, Setting the Stage- Explains obesity, emotional eating, and beliefs. Part 2, The Five Principles- There is a chapter for each of the principles. Part 3, Putting it all together- This is where all the information is tied together and how you can keep your weight off for life. Part 4, The Appendices- Information on the author's website,how to do calorie calculations, menu plans, and recommended foods to eat. I recommend this book to everyone who is struggling with their weight and constantly dieting. The book is honest and easy to follow. The book helps us to think differently about ourselves, and how we can change for the better. As per the Author, "The Body Fat Solution is NOT for athletes, bodybuilders or people who need to get "ripped" or reach extremes of low body fat. Body Fat Solution is especially written for people who struggle with inconsistent motivation, emotional eating, binge eating and other forms of self sabotage. This guide is an excellent guide for setting up a maintainable healthy lifestyle. It ties all portions of the puzzle together. Mindset-Nutrition-Strength Training-Endurance Training. The Body Fat Solution is a less rigorous implementation of the principles of Tom's Burn the Fat - Feed the Muscle e-book. I bought Body Fat Solution as a refresher and to get some of Tom's updated data. I have been using these principles in my lifestyle for 5 months and have removed over 40# of Fat from my body.

The Body Fat Solution by Tom Venuto is not another crappy diet book. It is a book about not only changing your lifestyle, but how to do it. I love that the book goes into depth and explains every last detail. There is a whole chapter on understanding body fat followed by a chapter on myths and why they are effective. Then, Tom talks about attitude and beliefs and freedom from emotional eating before even getting to the steps you should take (this guy really thinks like a Woman sometimes..amazing!) It is great that he is a huge, handsome body builder and he talks about feelings. This book really works. I have not been following the steps for more than two days, but I can tell by reading it. I already feel more confident in myself and I know I can follow these easy steps.
The best part about the book is all of the knowledge about food and exercise that you gain in reading it. For example, did you know that your metabolism increases when you eat due to the energy cost of digestion. This is called the thermal effect of food (TEF) and accounts for 10 percent of your energy expenditure. Some foods are more thermic than others. Venuto tells you which foods are highly thermic foods to take advantage of the TEF. I recommend this book to everyone. Whether you are trying to loose a massive amount of weight, or you just want to eat healthier. Venuto can definitely help!

The book is basically, "Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle" ("BFFM"), repackaged for the typical overweight person, challenged by the prospect of losing weight and keeping it off. It is far less "technical" and far more "forgiving" than the BFFM book. Basically, the book is written for the "rest of us" if "rest of us" means the non-gym rats and the non-body builders, who are only interested in getting leaner and healthier, but not necessarily doing "whatever it takes" to get totally ripped.
Ironically, with the internet and apps, it is far more easier today to "count calories" than ever before, but now Tom Venuto basically "softened" his approach to calorie counting by accepting the "portion control" methodology of dieting (something which he was critical of in BFFM). I believe his moderated approach towad "giving up" the calorie counting was mandated by the fact that people don't want to do any math (required to get the correct calorie count) and don't want to be bothered counting calories every day. So, rather than do what is required in BFFM, he is allowing that people can simply control their portions, and if they find they are not meeting a weekly goal, then they have to adjust the portions accordingly. I am not willing to go that route just yet, because I like having more precision so I can more easily adjust what needs adjusting. The book is choc full of examples and little stories that are entertaining and ring true. However, the real difference between this book and most others, is that Tom Venuto is a big believer in programming the brain and developing habbits through written/repeated affirmations,done on a daily basis, to make sure your subconscious *knows* what to focus on, and then to measure your body fat, lean muscle and whatever else you like, so that you can see, week by week, whether you are getting closer to your goal (if so, keep it up) or further from your goal (if so, make a change). As others have said, there is no magic pill. But, if you aren willing "clean up your diet" by eating more of the right foods and less of the wrong foods, and you are willing to make the physical effort required by cardio work and weight-bearing exercises, this book will help you do that which is necessary to "stick with the program" and to teach you what you've been doing wrong all of this time. I definitely recommend the book, but only if you are willing to change your life. He will help you be the best you that you can be. It requires discipline and dedication, and he gives you the tools that he believes will get you there.

very well written and easily understood material. Very comfortable
writing style you feel as if tom was directly counseling you without judging or lecturing. Book tackles not only the topic of obesity but the cause and how to set the proper goals and achieve the mind set that will motivate you to formulate a battle strategy and stick with it till you see the results you desire. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who feels stuck and is tripping over there own thoughts and being keep back from the healthy body they are struggling to get. I was a certified personal trainer and if i would of had this as a tool earlier i would have seen much better results for myself and my clients

I've been recommending this book regularly at SparkPeople.com to friends and acquaintances. It is so very practical! He spends the first half of the book identifying both societal & personal myths, lies, falacies about weight loss and how we get where we DON'T want to be. Then he provides helpful steps to walk away from the false information and move towards the truth of where we want to be (healthy!). I have continued to read & reread portions of this book as I work to make changes for health and balance in my life.
Tom's book is about health & balance! He is NOT an extremist. He is practical & helpful by providing many useful tools for change in both thoughts and lifestyle. The battle is not in our actions--rather it is in what we think. Actions are the representation of our beliefs. Anyway, in my opininon, a worthwhile book if you want to make lasting change in your personal health.

I've been a fan of Tom Venuto for years. His approach to fitness, including diet, exercise, and mental focus is solid and easy to follow. This book covers all bases for ANYONE trying to improve their overall health and well being. If you are one of the many people who are struggling to lose weight and achieve a fit body, this is the book for you. I've read it from front to back, and I still keep picking it up. It is simply filled with good information that must be the foundation for any healthy, fit lifestyle.

For the money, this book has a lot of good information. Tom shoots straight. He doesn't peddle pop nutrition. If the jury's out on something, he'll say so. He debunks quite a few myths of weight loss and you'll feel better knowing there's no easy way. I'm already counting calories and working out daily, so this read was a gratifying reinforcement to my current routine. If you have any doubt about Tom Venuto, just google his picture.

This book is an excellent source for motivation. While some of the nutritional and exercise information is common to those who are fitness minded, he states from the begining that this book is for those who want/ need to lose weight. I really like the way he thinks and I especially found his perspective on what "you" personally can maintain to be extremely valuable. This is a must read.

I am big fan of Tom Venuto. Honest guy, he will tell you things without BS. A great book for everyone looking to improve Health, learn how to perform excercises correctly, eat healthy and over all.....BURN FAT. I have both versions, the book and the audio version in my iPhone son I can hear it in the car.
