4.0 out of 5 stars This enhanced CD is worth buying just for the splendid video, February 12, 2002
This review is from: Body Freefall Electron (Audio CD)
Luke Slater's "Body Freefall Electronic Inform" single is a set of remixes of the title track, which originally appeared on his 1999 album WIRELESS. There are four remixes of the song, and placing the CD into a computer allows one to watch the "X-Rated" version of the music video of another track off WIRELESS, "All Exhale."

The original "Body Freefall Electronic Inform" mix was pretty uninteresting, and none of the remixes do much to change that, although the Counterplan Mix works well when it's part of a DJ set. So, the music on the CD isn't worth getting excited about, but this single is essential for fans of Luke Slater. Why? Because the music video is one of the most entertaining videos I've even seen.

"All Exhale video (X-Rated version)" was in a London taxi cab with Slater and an ever-changing set of fellow passengers. The video opens with about a minute of monologue from the cab driver. He claims in the beginning that he's on his first day, but goes on to say to another passenger, "I know loads of boys, I've been in this game for...thirty years." Besides the abundance of hilarious contradictions, he displays a great deal of pithy wisdom, such as "The...tube strikes, what, why don't we all go on strike?" Then, the music kicks in and the cab becomes a metaphor for life. In spite of its "X-Rated" appelation, the video contains no sexual content, although the Cockney cab driver certainly uses a great deal of profanity. It's difficult to explain justly why this video puts the listener into uncontrollable laughter, but if you like Luke Slater, this CD is worth getting just for this video.

3.0 out of 5 stars Power Electro you can Dance to!, August 14, 2000

This review is from: Body Freefall Electron (Audio CD)
With this five track (36min) single Luke Slater has proved that he is one of the best among the funky electro / house masters. I really dig Slater after Wireless CD! The present CD contains five different mixes -- ranging from full-strength electro to power-house in style. It's really funky and uptempo, - but unless you're a _true_ house-addict this may not be for you. The 'X-rated' VIDEO is .. not so interesting.
