4.0 out of 5 stars Early work shows Jayne Krentz's touches, September 30, 2005
Jayne Krentz is one of my favorite authors, but her work as Stephanie James is much less developed. I am glad to say that this book is one of the better early tries.

Sabrina fills her vacation time with seminars, drives like a maniac, and would much prefer either no bodyguard at all or a gun-packing muscle-bound creature to the man her mother has dug up for her Hawaiian vacation. (A threat to her mother's company translates to daughter needing a bodyguard.)

Jake Devlin has a mysterious past and now teaches children his own form of self-defense. Instead of meeting Sabrina at the airport he tracks her down to a party and starts the job as it should be done, including staking out her apartment from the couch. He doesn't sleep well and Sabrina wakes up easily when the lights are on outside her room, and bodyguard and client start down the path to an unprofessional relationship...

Some scenes show a lack of polish (the opening interview makes very little sense) but the building of Jake and Sabrina's relationship is enjoyable to watch.
