4.0 out of 5 stars never too young for a grown-up !
yes, staying young and alert is mostly up to us, and Carolyn Sutherland makes it clear that we are responsible and able to maintain vibrant health and vibrant mind as we age... by treating ourselves with the right food and attitude. Very clearly written, pleasant to use, it's a companion book definitely. Thanks Carolyn !

1.0 out of 5 stars Where is the science, please?
This book reads well, but I agree with the other reviewer who suggests that it's... not the best.

With the reams of science on diet and nutrition and the many excellent books by nutrition professionals, it's not worth the time (and is actually counter-productive) to get the anecdotal stuff that is offered in this book. For example, I could cite the many 80...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Invitation for All to Acknowledge Body's Power and Ease for Health & Vitality, August 3, 2010
As a yoga instructor and self-described lover of the connection in Mind/ Body/ Spirit books, I found "The Body Knows How to Stay Young" to be very well named. It is a wonderful invitation for all to acknowledge our body's power and ease for vitality and health. As a mother of a two year old and teen, I honed in on the sections that could help me create more energy in my day. With Caroline's facts, it was hard to dispute that my caffeinated coffee might be depleting my energy rather than adding to it. Hesitant, yet curious, I switched over to decaf to see for myself! True to her word and even though I had already been cutting my coffee back from the usual big gulp, the switch made a distinct difference in my energy levels, emotionally and physically. This book delivers on its promise to describe paths to spiritual and physical wellness, in a way that is empowering. Caroline's insights also provided the information needed for me to help my teen daughter who has been having headache issues. A few tips from Caroline helped my daughter embrace the idea of trying a sugarless diet. The headaches have dissipated as well as the dizzy spells.

This book contains clear and concise "secrets of vibrant aging and health" broken into four parts that include: stopping the body breakdown, regeneration, balance and igniting passion. I love the fact that Caroline moves beyond the medical and also addresses the emotional wellness factor, using practices that I also teach for vitality and clarity, including; breath meditations, affirmations and practical tools that are easy to apply for spiritual and energetic health. One of my favorite meditations she offers is a practice of breathing in love and breathing out blessings, reminding us to think well of others, "emanating an energy field from your heart like a beacon."

As a person who teaches well-being through the practice of yoga, I especially enjoyed the information shared which she received after surviving a near death experience, "According to them, I was to feel fortunate to have a body and be of service; these were great privileges that should be treated with the highest reverence." This blends perfectly with what I teach, appreciation for this beautiful body and taking care of it in the best way possible so that we are clear, healthy, bright channels inspiring others to their own greatness!

Thank you Caroline!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing, talented person, August 16, 2008
I've known Caroline and her work for nine years. She has been the single most influential (in a very positive way) force in my own journey towards good health and for my friends and family. This book continues that great legacy.

5.0 out of 5 stars I recommend all of Caroline's books!, April 30, 2010
By
Caroline Sutherland is a gifted and talented woman and I highly recommend all of her books. I love her "The Body Know" series. I have "The Body Know's How to Stay Young, and "The Body Knows Diet" on my nightstand and I have every page earmarked!

I always refer to these books, and after a couple years still haven't put her books away! After reading these books I called Caroline for an intuitive reading and it was very affordable in a small group setting. It was the best money I ever spent, and it changed my life. After many medical allergy tests with doctors I was told I had no allergies. Yet Caroline told me what my food sensitivities were, and I was surprised by some of them. By avoiding these foods and changing my diet, I now have more energy, less joint pain, and I could go on and on, it's all good! Caroline's passion is to help people live happy and healthy lives, and I so appreciate her work. Also her books come with a free CD, which I love! Only buy these books if you want to change your life for the better! You can also follow Caroline on facebook.

This book reads well, but I agree with the other reviewer who suggests that it's... not the best.

With the reams of science on diet and nutrition and the many excellent books by nutrition professionals, it's not worth the time (and is actually counter-productive) to get the anecdotal stuff that is offered in this book. For example, I could cite the many 80 year-olds who smoke and drink and feel great, but that's not science--those people are anomalies, and don't indicate that smoking and drinking are healthy.

For alternative practitioners who have some scientific oomph, stick with Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, and others who take the best of Eastern medicine but stick with real science, not "intuitive medicine"--a peculiar concept if ever there were one.
