Product Description

Kanae’s heart was racing, the heavy drumming almost echoing in his ears. He prayed that Yuichi couldn’t hear it and continued on casually, as if it were nothing. “I’m just taking your lead. You said that anyone would do, so I thought it might as well be me.”

Kanae Hayakawa is pretty, popular, and sought after. What could possibly be wrong with his life? Everything. Though he’s known as the “Cool Beauty” of his college, the rumors couldn’t be farther from the truth! Socially awkward, shy, and a little bit tired of all the attention, Kanae doesn’t know how the entire school came to view him as seductive, easy, and willing to sleep with both men and women. Whispers behind his back, propositions for one-night stands, and fanciful rumors ensure that his life, unlike his supposed sex life, will never be easy.

But there is another boy who has become the talk of the entire college: Yuichi Nagao, notorious womanizer and general jerk. He’s famous too, and like Kanae, it’s for all the wrong reasons. He’s been with more women than he can remember, and it’s earned him a horrible reputation. Now that he’s dated the entire female population of the school and made bitter ex-girlfriends of them all, where is he to look for the occasional bout of casual sex?

As fate would have it, Yuichi and Kanae have become fast friends, and the entire school is talking. What in the world is the Cool Beauty doing with the school jerk? Yuichi and Kanae aren’t talking, not that words are necessary anyway—these boys speak the language of the body, so this rumor might not be false after all!

Aki Morimoto’s sultry novel follows the stories of Kanae and Yuichi, both social outsiders looking for someone to please them sexually as well as accept them for their true selves. As their relationship grows, will they remember to open up and understand one another? Or will words go unspoken in favor of the pursuit of bodily pleasure?

5.0 out of 5 stars Body Language by Aki Morimoto, March 18, 2008
I made an error: I bought this book thinking it was a graphic novel (the cover is pretty cute) and instead it's a yaoi novel. It's my first time I read a true japanese yaoi novel and my feelings are puzzled.

Overall I have to say that I like it, but it's clearly a novel written by a woman for women. Why I say this? Cause, after reading hundreds and hundreds of gay romance, I know certaing things about gay love (maybe more than I want) and there are some sex scene in this book that are impossible, "realistic" impossible. But still it's almost an erotic novel, with a lot of sex, and I think that it reaches its goal, to entertain you for some enjoyable hours.

Kanae is a beautiful guy, almost too pretty that he can be mistaken for a girl. He is an out of town college student, and so, without long time friends, and being helplessly shy, he has made a reputation of cold beauty. Rumors say he is bisexual and that he is an host. Instead Kanae is virgin and he has chosen to ignore all the rumors without denying them nor confirming. But one day Yuuichi, the most notorious womanizer of the university, decides to be his knight in shining armor and to rescue him from all the people who mock him. And Kanae falls in love at first sight for this handsome guy with an incorrigible behaviour.

They are friends but Kanae yearns for more and what he has the chance, he proposes to Yuuichi: better some days as his lover than a life as his friend, in this way he will have the memories to warm him. He knows that Yuuichi's interest is easily lost after some days he makes sex with a girl, and he is surprise to realize that their relationship grews steady more the days pass. But Kanae is not sure of Yuuichi's love, and he counts the days to their break.

As I said, there is lot of sex in this novel: the two guys can't be in the same scene without making sex and they are the only two characters of the novel, so, you can understand how much sex there is. But I find it exciting and not boring, so, if you start reading this novel knowing what you will find and not searching to noblize it to something more, it's a pretty good read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read, July 10, 2008
I liked the story and it never got boring! The scenes reminded me of something that you would more daydream about rather than doing. It definitely wasn't realistic but it kept me interested throughout the entire book. The sex scenes were graphic and there was a lot of them, which was good. I really liked the characters too. The translation wasn't too bad either.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Body Talk, April 12, 2008
I had been anticipating this new yaoi novel since I saw it's release date on June Manga, unfortunately this new edition of m/m writing fell short. There seems to be a lot missing to the story, not only was it extremely short but it seemed to be the sort of story I'd find at fictionpress. I'm not sure if it was because of the editors/translators but this story didn't seem to really stand up to the summary in the back. The art is really pretty and some of the interactions with kanae and Yuuichi were amusing but I would suggest you borrow or read it at the bookstore to save you money it should that everyone one sitting to read this short book.
