Tense, Brooding & Exotic. Marc Streitenfeld's Score Is An Amazing Effort,

This review is from: Body Of Lies (Audio CD)
Marc Streitenfeld spent some time working as an assistant and additional composer for Hans Zimmer and through Hans he met Ridley Scott. Scott asked Marc to score A Good Year for him and ever since they have been working together (A Good Year, American Gangster, Body Of Lies). This is only Marc's third solo scoring attempt and indeed it's his best and most complete work. American Gangster was great but looking at thematic structure Body Of Lies is a better effort.
He keeps the tension mounting with brooding string arrangements put on top of almost constant percussion. Most of the film is dialogue driven and you really don't even notice the score in the first half, but past the midway point the film relies heavily on the score. What is impressive is that in only 3 scores Marc Streitenfeld has established a style unique to his own and he maintains that style while incorporating a Middle Eastern flair to it. If you listened to American Gangster and Body Of Lies back to back you would be able to pick up his style immediately. The score has a theme that can be heard in the very first track and he brings it back only a couple times (more so in the actual film). Unfortunately this release only has 45 minutes of music to a 2 hour, 10 minute film so we are only getting bits and pieces. Marc Streitenfeld has shown huge steps of progression from the three scores he has done thus far in his career. I wouldn't mind to see his collaboration with Ridley Scott continue but I would like to see what he could do out of his comfort zone with a different director. An impressive effort worth checking out.

Body of lies was an amazing movie with beautifuly composed music. Yes, this album does not have any guns n roses, but that album will be out november 4. Don't PAnic. This sound track mixes together a symphony orcastra and middle eastern themes.

Ridley Scott and Marc Streitenfeld are a great team. Scott's film, Body of Lies, is a great alternative for those who avoid the standard, been-there-done-that James Bond spy thriller. James Bond films are great if you need to turn off your brain and drool, but Body of Lies is a wonderful alternative.
This album contains the musical score from the film. The score is wonderfully original. Streitenfeld's score captures the emotions and the overtones of the film. Moreover, the score captures the feeling of angst, betrayal, disorder, and madness which permeated the film. In other words, this musical score, like all memorable scores, is the heart of the film. I enjoyed Streitenfeld's score for American Gangster, and I believe his score for Body of Lies surpasses the former. This score seems more diverse and more engaging. Also, this score seems more conscious and thought-out. (Listen to the score for American Gangster and you'll know what I mean.) This is a great score for a great film; it's different and unique (like the film). And for the record, Guns and Roses need to shut up; they suck.

A beautiful soundtrack that lies quietly behind an often violent film - and mercifully doesn't include the G&R song over the the end titles.

This is a very suspenseful soundtrack with an middle eastern feel to it. Soundtrack definitely matched the movie, but one doesn't need to see the movie to enjoy this.

I have to agree; to not include the (awesome) Guns n Roses song (If the World(?) is unforgivable. It's the only reason I'm interested in the soundtrack. I can pick up 'Composer Only' movie sound-tracks at 'Family Dollar' stores. (No Offense)

The soundtrack from this film is quite beautiful. Haunting and very visual. It takes you throuh the film and into The Middle East. I am an artist and it helps me create! Thank you...

A good copy of the Jason Bourne soundtracks,

The soundtrack mirrors the Bourne movies, particularly the Bourne Supremacy. Nevertheless, you can't have too much of a good thing and it is excellent. The combination of quick tempo violins, base and percussion is perfect for such all action movies.

No Guns N' Roses = Soundtrack of Lies,
This review is from: Body Of Lies (Audio CD)
Guns N' Roses has a song in this movie. It's called If The World. It is not on the soundtrack. Inexplicable, unforgivable. Soundtrack = FAIL.
