Fairly Good Buy,

This is my 4th Exercise Bike over the last few years & would summarize as follows:
PROS: 1) Fairly good construction - More stable than the $100-exercise bicycle that I owned previously 2) Reasonable to assemble - Takes about 45 minutes for someone mechanically inclined 3) Nice adjustable seat - The ability to adjust the seat vertically as well as horizontally is nice to accomodate any height and arm length 4) Front wheels - This makes it very mobile for storage or use in another room CONS: 1) Not enough resistance - They advertise a "fan driven unlimited air resistance", but it does not become more challenging with faster pedaling. I had to rig up my own method to obtain greater resistance and get a decent workout. 2) Very hard seat - They "promise a more comfortable ride, even after a marathon exercise session." A marathon session is impossible because it's too painful. I recommend an additional seat cushion. Overall, I'm glad that I purchased it, but it has taken additional modifications to make it useful for me.

After a short-time usage, We are down-grading this product from a 4 Star to a 2 Star because essential/ main parts of the bike are wearing out or broken and in need of replacements. We rarely use the bike and are very disappointed the parts wear out so easily.
Positive: Bike quality is well built and material grade above average. Negative: 1) SMALL PRINTS ON THE BROCHURE; hard to read. 2) FEW MISSING PARTS; broken plastic package containing all the parts. When we requested for the MISSING PARTS, instead of sending the few parts, we received ANOTHER WHOLE BIKE, AGAIN WITH BROKEN PLASTIC PACKAGE! Parts were every where! 3) THE FOOT STEP ACCESSORY had too-large and rough SCREW THREADING ON THEM; will NOT fit on the bike! 4) CUSTOMER SERVICE AT AMAZON IS INEFFICIENT AND NEEDS GREATER IMPROVEMENT; we had to email Amazon at least 5 different times to ask the SAME QUESTIONS on our problem. EVERY RESPONSE from Amazon were from different person, we had to explain AGAIN AND AGAIN BUT NEVER GOTTEN THE RIGHT RESPONSE OR SOLUTION. Before we knew it, Amazon had send a 2nd COMPLETE BIKE for replacement. Again, we had the SAME ISSUES with the 2nd Bike on BROKEN PLASTIC PACKAGE containing all the parts. Instead of dealing with the wasteful and ineffective Customer Service again, we simply sorted out the PARTS between 2 BIKES and completed our assembly. 5) Carrying, Driving and Returning a 80+lb. Bike to a UPS station was a drag too; why can't we have UPS pick-up service?

All, I wouldn't recommend this product. I put the item together, and it lasted about 3 hours. First the seat retaining nut and bolt assy came flying off. Secondly, the pedal assy bolt came out after less than a 15 min workout. This caused the biggest problem, after happening a second time, the screw thread in the crank arm was wore out. After all this, I got so disgusted with my purchase, I just threw the darn thing out.

First off, not a review of this machine but I do have an old Schwinn cycle fan stationary exercise bike that looks almost like this.
Am I missing something here? Is this a reasonable price -- and I'm talking about the sales price of about $300 vs $500. I'm grateful for my Schwinn (maybe an antique) cycle with fan which doesn't look all that different from this -- it has the electonic meter, a fan and set of wheels to move it with. If I didn't have that, I'd get some stand that took a bike off its wheels and set a fan to blow up at me before paying $300. I'm thinking it should cost half of the sales price of $300 for what it is. |
