All the ingredients are here for a pleasant physical and emotional experience: a stunningly attractive movie star with the proverbial "perfect" body, topped off with a senuous voice to guide us through an exercise and breathing technique that will improve the mind and body, hence the name of this 1999 video.

Movie sex symbol of the 60s, Raquel Welch has teamed with consultant, Dr. Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. and author of a book "Minding the Body, Mending the Mind" Dr. Borysenko is a specialist in the field of stress control techniques. Stress is defined as a feeling that we are being threatened either in body or in mind. She adds that we feel helpless to control the stress, therefore, the body goes thru body changes, hormonal, chronic and muscle, level of corticosteroids goes up, susceptibility to diseases, colds flue, etc.

A concept of the Mind and Body is to relieve stress in the body by relaxing tensions in the mind. The two interact and they are deeply connected. The key to this technique is "breathing". Raquel instructs on how to breathe abdominally. The segments in this video include: 20 minute introduction to educate and prepare you for what is in store. Practice is essential.

Part One is called "The Body" as Raquel Welch demonstrates stretching that his based on her yoga techniques (another popular videotape also.)

Part Two is "The Mind" and Raquel will teach mental techniques, massage the face muscles, stretching, releasing the tension, meditating.

An important element in making an exercise videotape is the ambiance. Here, Raquel uses a chair or mat. The background is pleasing to the eyes, and the music is soft and soothing.
