Book Description

9657146089 978-9657146088 June 2004
The body-mind connection is a well-documented fact in today's medical paradigm. Yet, long before recent scientific research uncovered this natural linkage, it was described in Kabbalistic healing manuals, with one important difference--there it was understood to be a link between the body, mind, and soul of kabbalah and healing.

This healing manual explains Kabbalah's centuries-old perception of human physiology, its view on how to maintain overall health, and how this is dependent on our spiritual well-being.

"The phenomenon of disease is one of [spiritual] separation or estrangement," the rabbi writes pertaining to kabbalah and healing. When disconnected from our innermost self, and our spiritual Source, illness manifests. Were we to understand the true source of our ailments, and give full expression to our yearning to connect with our life Source, we would have no need for external remedies.

Whether you rely on today's holistic healing or on more traditional medicine, you'll benefit from the Kabbalistic prescriptions for healing and understanding of human physiology laid out in this valuable book.

Body, Mind, Soul: Kabbalah and Healing includes:
- A reference guide to the body-soul interaction
- A detailed description of Kabbalah's understanding of disease and its root causes
- Contemporary healing methods seen from a mystical point of view
- A discussion of the healing power of prayer and teshuvah (return to G-d)

Kabbalistic healing is a complete system of belief and practice. Of interest to anyone seeking true holism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!, February 13, 2009
This review is from: Body, Mind and Soul: Kabbalah on Human Physiology, Disease and Healing (Hardcover)
I agree that it was a difficult read, and no knowledge in Kabbalah will find you searching for understanding through other sources, regardless, it was a fascinating book, and subject, and I cherish this book, that I have gone off to purchase for others I really care about. I own two copies, one I lend out, and the other I won't let go of. I rarely can finish a book from cover to cover, I've read it twice. I highly recommend Rabbi Ginsburgh's earlier book, and somewhat of an introductory to Kabbalah, "What You Need To Know About Kabbalah" so as to have an easier time navigating through the pages.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complex and Dry, But Good Info, June 7, 2006
This review is from: Body, Mind and Soul: Kabbalah on Human Physiology, Disease and Healing (Hardcover)
Body, Mind and Soul: Kabbalah on Human Physiology, Disease and Healing is by the noted rabbi and chassidic kabbalist, Rabbi Yitzchak Ginsburgh (of inner.org) and published by Dwelling Place Publishers.

The concept behind this book is to lay out the kabbalist framework of health and, G-d forbid, it's opposite, disease. It discusses in depth and in detail, how is the body energized (how G-dly energy is received by and flows through the body), and how certain symptoms related to certain problems associated with it. And of course, potentially that leads to understanding certain spiritual corrections that need to be made, thereby leading to healing.

And it's great, in concept. As a practical matter, the book requires at least an intermediate level of kabbalah or chassidic understanding, and is written like a college textbook. The presentation is dry and technical, making it a hard read and more useful as a reference book than a topical review.

If you've got some serious kabbalah background and are looking for a book to research specific health issues, you may find it useful in pinpointing spiritual problems (note I didn't say resolving them). Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.
