Book Description

January 1, 1996
In poems that are at once colloquial and elegant, Perillo strives to bridge the gap between the exuberant voice of the streets and the rarefied voice of literary tradition. Using the long lines and narrative style that have been identified with some of the finest male poets of our times, Perillo tells the stories of female experience with a grim eye for the comic and an ear turned to language's highest pitch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading!, April 24, 1998
This review is from: The Body Mutinies (Paperback)
Heard her on NPR. One of my favorites is "Skin" which I've since seen in other anthologies. I think her work is brilliant! Her other book, Dangerous Life, is also great. I've recommended her to a number of friends. She has an amazing command of the language.

Ms. Perillo's second book holds clear and compelling images of the sacred and the mundane. She examines topics from disability to the Beatles. She is in top form in this book. I have recommended this book to many of my friends.
