5.0 out of 5 stars Very mystycal and exciting music, a world of surprise.
This album offers extreme rarity. The type of musical exposure is not found on any other recording. Several songs have very good melodious tune, and a great listening pieces, others offer something never heard before. A great buy at Amazon, highly recommended.

"Music from The Body" is basically a soundtrack for a film version of Anthony Smith's book "The Body", written in 1968. Actually the whole soundtrack was re-recorded for a vinyl release because Ron wanted to make it sound better than it originaly did. This is probably more of a Ron Geesin album than Roger Waters solo attempt. However, the team work these two put together to make this is fantastic. I'll admit this is probably not for everyone. Mostly fans of early Pink Floyd or Ron Geesin himself would be at all intersted in this. It consistis of 22 tracks that feature some Waters "folksy" solo guitar work and a strange collection of short cuts & sound effects from Ron Geesin. This album is best known for it's final track "Give Birth to a Smile". If this track seems to be a bit more substansion that the others, you're probably right. The rest of Pink Floyd made a guest appearance on the song but went uncredited on the lp. Only a little while after this was recorded, Geesin would be called to help out with Pink Floyd's 23 minute epic "Aton Heart Mother" from an album of the same name. All in all this is a decent recording that flows more like an album not a soundtrack, and a gem for any Geesin or Floyd fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Warped Waters, May 22, 1999

This is as warped as rock and roll gets! I first heard this music on vinyl in the early 1980's and was convinced that Roger and his mate were experimenting with something other than musical instruments. On one occasion, I listened to this music when I was very tired and I dozed off. I was woken half way through in a nightmare state - never been more frightened in my life. Overall though the music grows on you and the last track (give birth to a smile) is superb. The lyrical content seems to refer to most of the "pathetic" things that humans engage in. I don't know - have a listen for yourself!

3.0 out of 5 stars VERY strange yet appealing album., March 25, 1999

Overall this is a good album though I'm more partial to the tracks that Roger Waters did alone as opposed to the ones with Ron Geissen(sp). I enjoyed it and found it's worth buying, but it's not an album for everyone.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Novelty Item, March 8, 2003
This review is from: Body (Audio CD)
Unless you are really into Pink Floyd's most avant garde stuff (Atom Heart Mother and the Ummagumma studio album), you are unlikely to listen to this more than a couple of times. It gives only a little bit more insight as to what Pink Floyd would become. The other soundtrack albums from that period (including the often-overlooked Zabriskie Point) do much better in this regard. It has almost absolutely nothing in common with the material he wrote after The Dark Side of the Moon. If you are a Pink Floyd completist, go ahead and get it, but you will probably find that it compares with Nick Mason's Fictitious Sports as the least important Pink Floyd solo album.

I was happy to see that I could find something close to the original sounds of pink floyd when they were experimenting more with electronic sounds than the top forties list. I was however, wondering if those other reviews were written after purchasing a copy or after listening to amazon's 30 second taste?

If anyone has any information on the OLD "Echoes" I would be very happy to hear where I can get a copy. "saucer full of secrets; careful with that axe Eugene; etc"

I think both Roger Waters and Ron Geesin are geniuses so of course i love this album.. but thats not all.. there is something special about it.. maybe its roger waters amazing lyrics and guitar playing... years before he let those abilities shine through in pink floyd... maybe its ron geesin's sonic weirdness and beauty thats made me fall over laughing during a trip.. maybe its the special appearance by all of pink floyd at the end... i dont know.. all i know is that when i listen to it i always give birth to a smile.
