So, for such an expensive purchase I am thoroughly disappointed in the overall quality of the product. The materials used are top notch until you get to the pulley system. Its AWFUL. The 1st time I used it the plastic covering the pulley ropes shredded right off due to friction against the frame. There is no way to avoid this as it's simply a design flaw. The pulley system is also very jerky and doesn't feel safe at all. It's pretty much worthless.

Problem 2 is in the instructions. The printed instructions describe everything in inches (1/4 inch this, 1/8 inch that) while the cardboard with all the bolts list everything in millimeters (75mm this, 80mm that). I'm not going to lie, I learned math in the Chicago public school system so I was scratching my head the whole time. If you aren't savvy with inches to millimeter conversions, expect to spend an unnessesarily long time doing just that- converting measurements. Overall I found the instructions poorly written- like you can tell it was written by someone whose first language is NOT English. There are also some bolts that are not quite the size they are supposed to be. How does something like this happen?!

The smith machine and the bench are very well constructed and certainly feel built to last. The metal pieces are heavy and sturdy like you'd expect from good gym equipment.

If you buy the smith machine w/bench ONLY then this is a good product. Do yourself a huge favor and pass on the delux model or any variation that employs the pulley system. You can do much better than this. I will never buy another expensive piece of equipment without testing a floor model first. I hope someone gets something good out of this review and doesn't make the same mistake I did.
