I've been listening to MF since the early 1970's, and while this album will not equal the raw power of the old MF Horns (Give it One RULES) Maynard and the orchestra have adapted to fit the times, new flavorings, and the sound is pleasing. I especially like the arrangement of the title track, a powerful start, nice ensemble sections, and a good treatment of an old standard. Granted, not a lot of well-known selections on the album, but it's an easy listen.

After leaving the major label behind, MF experimented with other formats and sounds. This album marked the return to a true modern Big Band format and is tight -very reminiscent of earlier albums. While the album has terrific arrangments that amply showcase MF's skills and those of his band members, the live tour for this concert was truly outstanding, and answered the questions floating around MF at the time as to whether he "still had it." The music pumps on this one, and it is a great addition to the collection of anyone who likes the MF wall-of-sound approach.

IT HAS A LOT OF LATIN FEEL SONGS AND THEY ARE PLAYED REALLY WELL.IT HAS A COUPLE OF FLAWS, BUT ALL IN ALL A GREAT ALBUM
