This collection of essays, which includes a revised version of a famous article on the "male lesbian," addresses such issues as race, gender, and sexuality, and explores the body as a physical, psychological, and cultural construct.
Makes an original and significant contribution to lesbian and gay philosophy. It takes up a spectrum of very timely topics, including black athleticism, AIDS, and Prozac, some of which are hardly ever discussed by philosophers, and does a beautiful job of blending abstract and concrete in its attack on the dualism at the root of the oppressions of the body.
(Claudia Card, author of Lesbian Choices )
