4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting to use. Not sure about detox effectiveness.
Let me start by saying that I did not buy these. I don't know much about reflexology or detoxing other than what is pretty common knowledge.

Let's start with the good things. I find these pads invigorating. Whatever it is they do, my foot and lower leg feels a bit lighter the day after using one of these pads. Perhaps it's just increased blood circulation...

I hate to throw cold water on something that might bring relief to pain sufferers. I am definitely among you with Lyme, EBV and other immune system disorders plus chronic bone infection. I've about been cured of the immune problems with antibiotics for the Lyme and Immune Care 64 (Google it) for the EBV (herpes six mostly) but the bone infection may still kill me. I looked into EVERYTHING to draw out toxicity and reduce the constant body pain. I tried six different brands of these footpads for three months.

I'm an engineer so I tend to be analytical in all I do. I contacted every company who makes or resells them asking for just one study by a recognized lab showing that the "brown yucky gunk" I saw each morning was actually from the body. I gave up. All I received were "glowing testimonials". You can get that with sugar pills from people who are desperate for relief. I finally did my own test. I researched body sweat. I made imitation body sweat with the right salts and other minerals of the body then heated it to body temperature. Dipping these pads into the imitation body sweat generated the same brown gunk.

How do they heat the foot to cause it to sweat? There are three rocks found in nature that emit heat naturally. One is radium. Much exposure to that can kill you. But there is another rock that emits heat and is harmless. Mixed with the bark of the Japanese tree used to make these pads, the rocks heat the soles of your feet as you sleep. The resulting sweat soaks into the pads and causes the bark to turn to brown gooey gunk. If it is really toxins from the body, would someone please tell me of an independent and scientifically recognized laboratory who has tested the results for body toxicity. Please, no testimonials. Every company in this business has plenty of those. But actual lab results? I have found none and I REALLY looked. And I REALLY wanted these to work to remove the toxicity that was causing me so much pain, but that was finally alleviated by a doctor diagnosing me with Wilson's Syndrome. I was put on armour thyroid. My metabolism began to work again and detox my body naturally. These pads are like many things. If they truly make you feel better then, by all means, use them. But I know of no scientific evidence that proves they draw out toxicity and I have simulated the process that generates the brown gunk you think is toxicity from your body. Take one pad and put a corner of it into salt water heated to body temperature. You'll have the brown gunk within minutes.

Let me start by saying that I did not buy these. I don't know much about reflexology or detoxing other than what is pretty common knowledge.

Let's start with the good things. I find these pads invigorating. Whatever it is they do, my foot and lower leg feels a bit lighter the day after using one of these pads. Perhaps it's just increased blood circulation. But whatever it is, I do like it.

I don't necessarily like this sensation enough to buy these pads again, though. As to their detoxing power, they do get less brown as I use them repeatedly. But I definitely would not rule out others' theories as to what causes the pads to react as they do. I never sent mine into the lab for testing, as I lost steam after about two weeks.

I hope this is helpful. Again, I did enjoy using these things, despite my lack of conviction about their actual detoxing powers. But that's really all I'd hoped for when I received them as a gift.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Experince, March 10, 2008
This review is from: BodyPure+ Detox Foot Patches (Health and Beauty)
I ordered this product along with the testing kit. The company that sent it ouw was Wise Choice Health Inc. . I ordered the 15 element result test with the pads. The pads did turn black and left an awful smell as well as adhesive stuck to the bottom of my foot. I sent out the pad in the ziplock bag inside of the prepaid envelope.
I waited 2 weeks and call to see if there was any results. I was informed that it was too early for results and it would take another two weeks.
Now a month later I call to see what is going on and they informed me that they did not receive any of my results, and that they have an open envelope with no information and was wondering if it was mine. I am purely discusted at the whole experience.
The CTS testing people blamed it on the post office. Wise Choice Health Inc. blamed it on the testing people. Speaking to either company was impossible Customer Service wise. Both Companies would keep trying to speak over you and not listen. It was like pulling teeth to get a word in edgewise. If this is the type of people that are behind these pads and comapny, I don't see it lasting long. I can not really tell you if the pads work or not since I never received any results. I can tell you there is a big circus act going on over there, and I would save my money. I will never put another penny twards any of product from this company or any company that uses the same testing company. I feel like a victim not a customer. Body Pure means nothing but stress for me!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a believer, February 10, 2008

Being a massage therapist and reflexologist, I understand the concept and validity of these pads. I have recented started using them, and I firmly believe that they do pull toxins. I made sure that the full "sticky" pad was firmly adhered to my foot before going to bed. When I removed it the next morning, the darkest and foulest stuff was on the area of the pad that was directly over the reflex points for the stomach, ascending and tranverse colon, kidneys, and other abdominal organs. These work. No, it is not an overnight cure, it will take a long time to remove the toxins that have been building up over the years of a bad American diet, polution, etc, but this is fantastic tool for getting back to a healthy state.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun to try, but don't expect a miracle..., December 16, 2007
This review is from: BodyPure+ Detox Foot Patches (Health and Beauty)
When I finally broke down & tried these pads, I wasn't expecting too much - and I'm glad. I've been curious about this method of detox for a while now, and while the results are interesting, without knowing what you're looking at it's hard to make any conclusions. Sure, the pad turns brownish-black after using (and smells AWFUL - warm vinegar EW!), but you can see the powder in the packet is that color BEFORE you even put it on - I suspect oxidation & perspiration (each packet is sealed much like those charcoal handwarmers) but I suppose it could be something else... The company website will test used patches for you, and it seems most are coming out with lots of arsenic, mercury, plastic residues, etc. I have to wonder why it isn't even slightly uncomfortable to have those heavy minerals leaching out of the sole of your foot - in fact I haven't heard of ANY negative side effects (other than adhesive residue & smell)... That said, I am a big believer in the importance of the feet, and I suppose if you were going to attempt to superficially stimulate the internal organs, this is a great place to do it. I'd say this technology is more of a testament to the power of the placebo effect than the conduit of the feet - so if it works for you great! Keep it up, but keep an open mind too.

These foot detox pads are good to buy if you are really toxic. Removing the pads from my feet only showed light toxicty. The smell is disguisting from the pads and you need to take a foot stone to remove any adhesive that is left from the pad. Don't know if I would buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars I've tried others, and Body Pure are the best, January 10, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BodyPure+ Detox Foot Patches (Health and Beauty)
The foot pads made in China do not hold a candle to the American-made Body

Pure pads.

I've tried using the imported pads which do not remove as much of the toxins as the Body Pure. I know this from using the imported pads one night, then going back to the Body Pure the next. They withdraw toxins so much better that I will never buy another brand.

I was suspicious when I first used the pads,so tried putting some water on one to see if it turned brown. It did not. Then tried water with a bit of salt in it (perspiration being a bit salty)and again the pad did not turn brown. This sure made a believer out of me!(Note: using either water method made the pads turn a dull black)

If you want the best pads don't throw your money away by getting the inferior imports. The Body Pure will do a better job. "Made in America".....you can't beat them.
