5.0 out of 5 stars "I Love my Porcupine"
I love this massage ball. I purchased several different types of massage balls from three different seller's and out of the three of them, this one is my favorite. It is the right size for gripping and squeezing in my hands (I alternate using it in my left and right hand) and it feels wonderful when I place it on the floor and rub the bottom of my foot over it (I...

2.0 out of 5 stars A little too sharp
I think the spikes on the ball are a little too pointy. I have used other balls for foot massage that I think are a lot more suitable...

I love this massage ball. I purchased several different types of massage balls from three different seller's and out of the three of them, this one is my favorite. It is the right size for gripping and squeezing in my hands (I alternate using it in my left and right hand) and it feels wonderful when I place it on the floor and rub the bottom of my foot over it (I alternate my left and right foot - maybe I need another one?). I love the fact that it has some give to it and is not as hard as some massage balls I have tried. I would definitely recommend the "Porcupine Massage Ball" to anyone that likes a little softer massage ball.

4.0 out of 5 stars Depends on sensitivity, May 24, 2010

I ordered 2 of these balls - one for myself and one for my husband. He has very sensitive feet and has had a hard time adjusting to the sharpness of the spikes. (part of the problem may also be the quantity of the spikes.) The initial uses may be quite uncomfortable if you dive in by putting a lot of pressure on the ball!

I love it though. I start by rolling my feet gently over the ball then start pressing harder once my feet are used to the spikes. I've been using mine for a few days consistently and I feel that I'm getting significant relaxation in my feet and relief from a minor case of plantar fasciitis. It also seems very durable!

These balls are hollow. They are stiff enough to stay spherical with only a little pressure but do compress about 35-40% when you put a lot of pressure on them. The spikes themselves stay stiff so even when squished the ball is delivering a massage.

Your mileage may vary. If you have very sensitive feet, this may not be the best massage ball to start with because of the stiffness and number of spikes. I find it very helpful, durable and cheerful. Plus, that color yellow is hard to lose under my desk!

2.0 out of 5 stars not firm at all, January 21, 2010

i got this thinking it'd be a good option instead of packing up (and possibly losing) my pair of goosebumps, but this is definitely not comparable. while it's prickly (which is good), the ball feels like it's not fully inflated, so i'm not getting a strong massage when i'm rolling it under my aching feet. so disappointing. guess i'll be picking up another pair of goosebumps after all.

5.0 out of 5 stars For five bucks? Perfect. I'm getting a second one AND buying some for my colleagues for Christmas, October 22, 2010

I take off my shoes at work and roll my foot over the ball most of the day. I'm a 27 year old male who likes sports massages, and I don't think it's too prickly or too soft. If I want it to massage deeper, I just press down harder. Honestly I got this one because it was the least expensive one on here, but I love it. I'm getting a second one and ordering a half dozen more for my colleagues as a cheap Christmas gift. Surprisingly well worth the $5 in my opinion. If you sit at a desk most of the day, I highly recommend you get this or something like this.

While I like the concept of the Porcupine Massage Ball, for me, it's just not rigid enough. When I use it to massage my Plantar Fascia, it compresses too much. I wish it were not so soft.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for feet!!, June 13, 2011

I read some reviews on this before buying and they were mixed. For 6 bucks I went ahead and purchased it and have been happy with my decision. I use it for my feet and usually just roll it around while watching tv or at work at my desk. It is firm enough that is doesn't go "flat" under light pressure, if you really press hard it would but I just press lightly for a great massage. I am a bigger person that plays sports so my feet hurt often and this really helps!

Underwhelming. Not firm enough to massage very deeply. Foot Rubz ball is much better for the feet and Trigger Point massage ball is better for the rest of the body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tension reliever!!!, June 28, 2010
This review is from: Porcupine Massage Ball (Health and Beauty)
Item has a little more give than another brand that I already have does, but it still works well when used against a wall or when placed under your back when lying down and rolling around slightly or used on the floor for your foot. Some people may even prefer this softer version better. Great for sore muscles/nerve damage due to shingles around the shoulder blades!!! I bought several for gifts.

My tired old feet really appreciate stimulation from time to time and this spiked ball does the trick admirably. My back enjoys it too.
