Fun and sexy read.,

This review is from: Bodyguards in Bed (Paperback)
Bodyguards In Bed is a fun and sexy anthology by three exceptional authors. It's a perfect summer read to sit back and enjoy.
Who's Been Sleeping In My Brother's Bed by Lucy Monroe brings back the delightful Chernichenko Family. Danusia Chernichenko needs a place to work on her doctoral thesis while her apartment was undergoing repairs. Her brother's place would be the ideal place if she had the place to herself. Seems her brother Roman's co worker needs a temporary place to stay as well and it already there at the apartment. Danusia has had a major crush on Maxwell Baker since she first laid eyes on him. Since they are temp roommates can she get Max to see her as a grown woman and not Roman's little sister? Sparks will be flying. Jamie Denton's Hot Mess has Alyssa Cardellini picking up a witness at the airport. Only she picks up the wrong man. She doesn't know she has picked up FBI Special Agent Noah Temple and not the governments witness. Alyssa can't believe how much she is attracted to this man. But will she be forgiving when she find out who he really is? Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton has bodyguard Finn Tierney on assignment to protect top model Lauren Kauffman. Should be a cake assignment but Finn can't seem to keep his mind off his client. Lauren knows just what buttons to push to get Finn all fired up. Bodyguards In Bed has three delightful and compelling stories. Each has an element of danger and intrigue to make these bodyguards jump into action to protect those they care about. The chemistry between all three couples is tantalizing and all out sexy. Lucy Monroe and Jamie Denton are auto buys for me. Elisabeth Naughton is a new author for me and I will be looking for her books from now on as well. Great job ladies.

Bodyguards in Bed
"Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother's Bed?" by Lucy Monroe introduces Danusia Chernichenko, a brilliant student who's run into some bad luck lately. With her apartment broken into and needing repairs, she goes to crash at her brother's place--only to stumble into the dark and sexy Maxwell Baker. Max tells himself (with five good reasons) why he shouldn't get involved with his best friend's sister. But when the break in turns into a connection to Danusia's work at the university, Max volunteers his services to stay close, very close, to her side. Now and always. Up next is "Hot Mess" by Jamie Denton. Alyssa Cardellini, a self-proclaimed "work-in-progress," goes on a not-so-routine errand to pick up a client. When he greets her at the airport, she's shocked to realize pharmaceutical accountant turned U.S. Marshall witness Charles Rolston is a stunner--gorgeous in every way--when in fact, she has picked up Special Agent Noah Temple with the White-Collar Crimes Unit of the FBI. Having lost track of Rolston on the way to the trial, Noah is instructed not to blow his cover. But when Alyssa turns into too much temptation to resist, Noah knows he'll have to come clean or else risk losing her forever. If only the two thugs chasing them around town would realize that! This sizzling anthology culminates in the exciting climax of "Acapulco Heat" by Elisabeth Naughton. When Lauren Kauffman's brother hires a bodyguard to protect her during her photo shoot in Guatemala, the agency sends Finn Tierney. His sexy Irish brogue and smokin' hot body are too potent for Lauren to resist. Finn struggles with his attraction to Lauren, as on a previous assignment, he had fallen for another model and it had only led to disaster. But when a Guatemalan drug cartel comes after Lauren because of her connection to a co-worker, Finn realizes he'll do anything to keep her safe and in his arms...forever.

Bodyguards in Bed,
By Samantha J "Chick Lit Plus" (Des Moines, IA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bodyguards in Bed (Paperback)
Bodyguards in Bed is a book made up of three different novellas from three separate authors, all with the same theme: hot bodyguards doing more than just protecting their clients. The first, "Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother's Bed" by Lucy Monroe, covers a brilliant Ph.D. student whose home has been burglarized. Danusia hightails to her brother's apartment, which thought would be empty, but instead finds hottie black-ops agent Maxwell Baker has set up his own temporary home there. Her eye has been on her brother's friend Max for some time now, and being alone in an apartment proves their chemistry is hot as ever. The second novella, "Hot Mess" by Jamie Denton, follows office worker Alyssa who gets in an identity mix-up. While at LAX to pick-up whistle blower Charles Rolston, she accidently reels in FBI special agent Noah Temple. Noah skips telling her she has the wrong man, but knows he made a mistake after they end up sleeping together. And the last is "Acapulco Heat" by Elisabeth Naughton, where supermodel Lauren needs the protection of former army ranger Finn Tierney while on location. When Lauren's co-worker turns out to be from a family of drug lords, murder ensues. It's up to Finn to protect Lauren from getting murdered herself, but of course he finds time for some passion as well.
Bodyguards in Bed was a quick read, and I thought all three stories were interesting. Short stories and novellas aren't my forte, but it was a fun book filled with some hot scenes. I think my favorite novella was the third, probably because I thought it was the longest and I could get more into the story and characters. I thought I was going to really like the first, but it seemed to end as soon as it began. If you like short stories and are looking for a hot summer read, I would recommend Bodyguards in Bed to you.

Bodyguards In Bed by Lucy Monroe, Jamie Denton and Elisabeth Naughton
Contemporary Romance -May 31st, 2011 4 stars Who's Been Sleeping in My Brother's Bed by Lucy Monroe Danusia is young, smart and pretty. The problem? She feels like an outcast in her loving family. With an IQ that is off the charts and the youngest in the family, she is loved, but treated differently. Cosseted, she never feels quite apart of her family. When a break in at her apartment causes her to leave until it is repaired, she decided to stay at her brother's place while he is away. But to her astonishment, a colleague of her brother's, the sexy Maxwell Baker is currently staying at the apartment when Danusia moves in! Danusia has secretly had a huge crush on Max and to her confusion and surprise he is really attracted her, too. Danusia can't believe Max is attracted to a boring geek, but she isn't about to question her luck either! When another break in occurs, hunky Max is just the man to take care of all of Danusia's needs! This was a steamy romance and the chemistry between the two main characters had me turning the pages. I really liked how Danusia feels unsure because she still sees herself as a nerd and not really attractive. However, Maxwell sees her as a woman! I also liked that the author has an interracial relationship. For such a short story, this story was fully fleshed out and even includes a mystery that made it feel like a full length novel. 4 ½ stars Hot Mess by Jamie Denton Alyssa has gone from job to job, never quite finding her place. At her latest job for Primo Security, she is the official jack of all trades, filling in where needed. But a mess up in the scheduling has her stressed when she is tasked with picking up a last minute VIP at the LAX airport. This man is a high profile witness and she needs to keep him safe before the trial even though she really isn't a bodyguard. As she rushes to find him at the airport, she meets a very attractive man who turns out to be her client. She can't believe her luck, because he certainly is eye candy! But what Alyssa doesn't realize is that he is actually, Noah, a FBI agent. Noah is assigned to stay with Alyssa and keep the bad guys distracted from finding the real witness. But passion runs hot as these two flee from danger. This story took me by surprise. I loved the author's humor. The heroine is hilarious and reminded me of a klutzy Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich's series. I did find the story improbable but the author's light touch had me ignoring most of that. I really liked Noah, he was super sexy and felt bad deceiving Alyssa. Fun and outrageous, this is a quick and satisfying read. 4 stars Acapulco Heat by Elisabeth Naughton Finn Tierney has what most men would consider the best job ever - guarding the beautiful super model Lauren Kauffman. In reality, this assignment is sheer hell as Lauren is high maintenance and spoiled. But what really gets Finn is that he can't help himself from wanting her just like any other man on the planet, and that makes him a very grumpy man, indeed. He is just waiting until he can leave this assignment and the maddening lust he feels when she is near. But on his last night guarding her, they go to a club where one of the other models is killed. Now the killers want Lauren, too... This story was fast paced and I liked both characters, but because it was a short story, I did not think the author had enough time to do the plot justice. I never got the depth of the characters that I think I would if the author had written a full length novel, which I felt this story deserved. So, while it is a solid read, I felt it could have been even better. 3 1/2 stars Reviewed by Steph from the Bookaholics Romance Club

Who's watching the bodyguard?,
This review is from: Bodyguards in Bed (Paperback)
Sometimes, I read just for escapism-style entertainment, and that usually means a fun, fast, and sexy read like "Bodyguards in Bed". Three tantalizing tales from a trio of skilled storytellers, each a multi-genre author, are served up for your reading pleasure. In each novella, the protector is unprepared for the sensual awareness they feel in the vicinity of their surveillance subject, which gives a whole new meaning to the word "bodyguard". Each couple is a well-matched pair, with plenty of verbal sparks and fiery passion. In "Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed", by Lucy Monroe, sweet and scientific Danusia seeks refuge in her brother's apartment while he is out of town. She discovers that her brother has another houseguest, the gorgeous Max, best friend to her brother, and the object of Danusia's sensual daydreaming. Max has not been unaware of Danusia, and she has been the subject of his many potently erotic dreams. However, a guy just doesn't mess with his best friend's sister--right? When circumstances force them to work together to solve a threatening mystery, their erotic fantasies are brought to vivid life. In "Hot Mess", by Jamie Denton, accident-prone Alyssa works as a "glorified gopher" for a security firm. Due to crossed wires that she helped to create, she is the only one available to pick up a security-seeking client at the airport. The man who responds to the name placard she holds up is the most attractive man she's ever seen--far too rugged to be the corporate whistle-blower she was expecting. DEA agent Noah didn't know what to think when he received his latest assignment, but the last thing he anticipated was a seemingly ditzy, beautiful blonde bodyguard. By the time he figures out that Alyssa is a blonde with brains and beauty, his professional detachment has long since fled the coop. When Alyssa discovers that he is not the client hired by the security firm, the two of them are already on the run from bullets and bad guys. Increased adrenaline from their dangerous dilemma leads to heightened sexual attraction, and soon the danger comes from the emotionally erotic response they have for each other. "Acapulco Heat", by Elizabeth Naughton, offers a spectacular super-model who is so much more than a pretty face, and an irresistible Irish bodyguard who tries and fails to resist the temptation of his captivating client. Lauren longs for a man who will see beyond her looks and want the woman behind the face. Finn, a tough-as-nails professional protector, has been burned before by becoming involved with a woman in his care. If Finn takes a chance with Lauren, will history repeat itself, or will Lauren prove to be his model mate? This is a book to be enjoyed when you want to be alone and pamper yourself with a romance read, a good cup of coffee and even better chocolate. Review Copy Gratis Kensington Books

Bodyguards in Bed is worth the read.,

"Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed" by Lucy Monroe
Danusia Chernichenko is surprised to find Maxwell Baker in her brother's supposedly empty apartment. Danusia has been seriously lusting over Max, and Max feels the same, although he keeps his desire hidden. Anything between them should be impossible, but that doesn't keep the heat from simmering between them. "Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed?" is a tale of forbidden attraction, which makes the sexual tension between Danusia and Max even hotter. Danusia doesn't allow her insecurities get in the way of her desire for Max, and Max fights a good fight, but Danusia is a temptation he can't resist. Throughout the story, Danusia and Max discuss the repercussions of a relationship between them but her family, specifically her brother Roman, never make an appearance making "Who's Been Sleeping in my Brother's Bed?" a nice addition to a series, but it's missing some depth on its own. "Hot Mess" by Jamie Denton Alyssa Cardellini is supposed to be accountant Charles Rolston's bodyguard, but Charles is really FBI Special Agent Noah Temple, and somehow Alyssa's accountant becomes her bodyguard. Alyssa is a Jane of all trades, but rather than flighty she comes across as a strong woman looking for her perfect fit. She's good for Noah's straight-laced lifestyle. "Hot Mess" has excitement and suspense. Add Noah's deceit and you've got one hot mess. "Acapulco Heat" by Elisabeth Naughton Supermodel Lauren Kauffman has been lusting after her brother's friend Finn Tierney for a while. With Finn assigned as her bodyguard, she plans to act on the mutual attraction she feels simmering between them. When their lives are in danger she has to trust Finn with her life, but can she trust him with her heart as well? A beautiful woman, a beautiful location, and a hot bodyguard create a story filled with sensuality, romance, and danger. Lauren almost gets her heart broken and both she and Finn almost lose their lives. "Acapulco Heat" is exciting, suspenseful, and very hot. Bodyguards in Bed is worth the read. Although the endings wrap up a bit too quickly, sexy men and the women who can handle them fill each page with excitement and sizzling sensuality. Nannette Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Sexy, fun, passionate, hugely entertaining, and one of the most provocative books to reach the shelves in a long time - yes, THESE are the adjectives that best suit this incredible novel. Here we have three separate authors coming together and writing three individual stories that will have readers panting...seriously.
Our first "gift" is by Lucy Monroe and follows a young woman named Danusia, who has one heck of a family! Danusia is the youngest sibling in her family, and just doesn't seem to get along with the rest of the "clan." When a break-in occurs at her apartment, she decides to stay at her brother, Roman's condo for a short time, while her landlord fixes her door. However, when she puts the key into the lock and enters, a "tall, dark dish of absolute yum," is waiting inside the apartment...with a gun. Maxwell Baker works for her brother, Roman, who is out of the country on a "secret mission" at the moment. In fact, Danusia's family is filled with words like intrigue, black ops missions, and more. Danusia is really the only boring one. Or, so she thought. As she stays in her brother's house and gets "closer and closer" to Maxwell, she soon discovers that SHE is starring in her very own thriller. Her high IQ has found a secret about a pharmaceutical company and SHE is now on their hit list. Solving the crime, and falling in love, has never been more enticing. With the second story, we meet Alyssa, who works as a "go-to" girl for an elite security firm in Los Angeles. Picking up an arrival at LAX, Alyssa has been sent out to retrieve Primo Security's newest client - a man they must keep safe because he is the star witness in a huge U.S. Supreme Court case. Alyssa is soon pulled into his agenda, and begins to outrace stalkers, killers, and every other thing, while she struggles with the fact that she's passionately attracted to a man who may not really be who he says he is. And, to round off this tantalizing novel, readers are swept away to Acapulco to meet Finn Tierney. One Special Ops in the Irish Army, Finn now works as a security bodyguard for Aegis, Ltd. He spends his time guarding a supermodel (tough job, huh?) who is sent to shoots in highly violent areas. When Finn begins to get deeper and deeper into the case - and the girl - he finds himself up against gangs, drug cartels, and a beauty who just may end up to be one of the `bad guys.' Nope. You will not put this one down! Each story is thrilling, captivating, and sexy and will keep you glued to the page - body and mind. Believe me, after these three authors get done with you, you will be begging for just one of those hot men to guard your body! |
