Editorial Reviews

Created by vocalist/guitarist/producer Dylan Burns and Australian DJ/producer Kaz James (Pacha in Ibiza, One Love in Melbourne), the first single from the album, 'I Like The Way' was originally championed by Eric Morillo at Pacha in Ibiza last autumn from their only CD copy at the time. It blew the roof off the club and the rest is history.9871388

This review is from: Bodyrockers (Audio CD)
Bodyrockers is just one really really great band. I first heard their first single I Like The Way You Move and I just thought it was such a great song, that I must get their whole album right now. So, after hearing the whole album I was just surprised, how come I haven't heard for that band before. They play really cool mixture of rock and electronics. If you like bands such as Jet, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Bloc Party, you'll also like most of Bodyrockers' songs. There are also a couple of songs, which have much more electronics and less rock in them. Such as already mentioned I Like The Way You Move and also Round And Round and Dirty. I think Round And Round could become the next hit from this album, because it's just a great song, similar style than I Like The Way, just perfect for partying in the clubs. It also has some great rock elements, I especially like guitar riffs.
But on the other hand, there are also a couple of songs, which include just a bit, or even none electronics. You Got Me Singing is the best pure rock song here and also I Wanna Live. Just great. Another song that deserves mentioning is New York City Girl. This one is really funky song. The chours are sounding soo good. And I also have to mention Stuck In A Rut. It starts like a really hardcore electro song, but then turns into a nice ballad with piano playing. It sounds really cool.
So, I definitely recommend Bodyrockers to anyone who likes electro-rock, or something like that. Or if you like bands that I already mentioned. Just listen to the cd once and you're going to love Bodyrockers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like the bands you wouldn't admit you liked in the 80's., December 22, 2005

I have to admit I like this album by Bodyrockers. It takes me back to when I was in my teens. I was into heavy metal/hard rock as well as your typical pop radio music. The singers voice is very much like the voices from countless heavy metal/hard rock vocalists from the 80's. I definitely like the combination of the guitars and the electronic beats. Much better done than Scissor Sisters did with their album. I don't know what the big deal with that album was anyway this album actually Rocks! The unfortunate thing is this album has not received much hype. What's up?

The big track on here is I Like The Way (You Move). It starts with the drum beats and the track comes into full force with the the vocals. Very rockin' and very danceable. Their are plenty of remixes of this track as well which are by big name remixers so this track is definitely targeted to the club/dance market.

I like what they have done with Handel On Your Face. Sort of reminds me of a raw and rockish Ktel Hooked On Classics a bit with the classic samples but the track is actually much better than the cheesy compilations from the 80s.

The next big track on the album is Round And Round. Another rocking vocal track with their trademark big beats. The lyrics go "You've got me runining round and round and round and go aint nobody like you in the whole wide world guess what i'm a sucker for a run around girl". Sort of reminds me of Ratt meets ZZ Top. A fun track.

Overall like I said before this album is actually definitely worth checking out. If you like the sound of AC/DC with your dance and electronica then this album will definitely satisfy you.

I really wanted to like this album, a good friend of mine went nuts for it and made me give it at least one listen all the way through. Bodyrockers is reminiscent of older 80s & 90s bands like the other reviewers have been pointing out, for sure. The lead singer from Love and Rockets I think had some influence here, and Michael Hutchence too. Not sure if I spelled that right but it doesn't matter, because ultimately my opinion is that the CD isn't worth too much pondering. The tracks for the most part just sound like generic dance beats with way too much computerization (for my tastes anyway, I'm not into electronica.) I much prefer the sound of bands that make their music using actual instruments. So this was lost on me.
