drum and breaks,

"a music fan" mostly said it all. aquasky seems to be usually lumped in with the nu skool scene, but they are distinctive in that they drop beats at 170-180 bpm (dnb territory) while still using the typical nu breaks sounds of distorted basslines and wierd creepy atmosphere. this is really dark and raw stuff, the beats are hard and scrappy and definitely not for mellowing out to. its the kind of stuff that will give you a headache if you aren't ready for it. my only real complaint is "manmade symphony" on disc 2 which is essentially a re-hash of "blue thunder" on disc 1.. interestingly they are both the third track on their respective discs. besides that, this is a very interesting 2-something hours of sparse and nasty electronics. nu skool heads will probably dig this because of the production aesthetic, dnb fans might not because the "roll" of dnb is not really here, only the BPMs.

Aquasky DnB or Raggae?,
This review is from: Bodyshock (Audio CD)
I was looking over aquaskys previous music and it seems like they do more reggae in their music than anything. They have a lot of reggae DnB. This cd has its moments when a good ass popping DnB song will start after a long five minute beginning, or when it takes like five to ten minutes for it to pick up the beat and get ya rockin. Or else they have long chilled back raggea beats that lasts the whole song. All n all this cd has more good DnB music then it does reggae and therefore I do reccomend this cd to aquasky fans. I reccomend any aquasky cd, just because I think they are very underated especially around the U.S.A.

I have heard Aquasky through K&D K7 CD, Terranova's B sides and remixes, and from and increase the beats CD. However, none of the tracks I heard before are anything like this CD, and I gave it several listen's till I decided I liked it, however if your looking to hear something like Kanua, forget about it. This Aquasky is hard and banging, so while I liked it, you've been warned.

Basically you can't go wrong with Aquasky. Whether it be Aquasky (the drum and bass moniker) or Aquasky vs. Masterblaster (for the breaks heads). This LP sees Aquasky in DnB mode, and what a good mode it is. Covering nearly all styles of the genre, they tear it up with tight production. There's even some downtempo tracks to add some flavour up in the mix. So to sum it up, Buy it!!!

journey into breaks and beats,

aquasky offers a massive 2cd set of breakbeat action.i have never heard so hardhitting, banging beats and so enormously distorted basslines.which is nice.atmosphere throughout the album is really cool, like on some cyberpunk film.there is also a few softer, more housey workouts ,bit jazz flavour and some chill out in the end. music is very stripped-down,so maybe this is not for ltj bukem fans, but i recommend this to everyone who likes to hear well crafted breakbeat music.
