Book Description

New Colour Series December 15, 1999
Boeing's family of medium twins ranges from the 178-seat 757-200 to the sometimes forgotten 767 family, of which more than 1,200 have been delivered to customers since 1982. This colorful volume covers all three families and operators across the globe. In his job as a full-time air traffic controller, author Robbie Shaw is able to achieve unique "live-side" access at countless airports around the world, allowing him to photograph jetliners from ramp level and taxiways, and in the processes of take-off and landing. Robbie's trips for this volume found him in North and South America, the Far East (including China), Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, the Mediterranean, and numerous European airports. Complementing the photographs are individual aircraft histories, full appendices, and a series of cutaway drawings.

2.0 out of 5 stars Picture Book, December 26, 2005
This review is from: Boeing 757 & 767: The Medium Twins (Osprey Civil Aircraft) (Paperback)
This is just a picture book. It's best suited for my two year old boy who loves airplanes. Nothing inciteful, no in-depth history, no meat. Only a dozen pages of text. But I must admit, the photos are great. I purchased this book for my father (a 57/67 flight instructor). I was too embarrassed to give it to him. I found another book. He'll get a late Christmas gift.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating, August 6, 2000
This review is from: Boeing 757 & 767: The Medium Twins (Osprey Civil Aircraft) (Paperback)
The Boeing 757 and 767 are perhaps two of the most gracious aircraft flying the skies today. With their smooth, clean lines, they are absolutely beautiful. Robbie Shaw captures these two aircraft beautifully. The aircraft seem to adore the camera as they look excellent in the photos.

The Boeing 767, developed in 1980, was designed to close a large gap for Boeing. Airlines demanded an aircraft that could seat 250-340 passengers, and could take them farther, more efficiently. Thus, Boeing was out for the 767.

The Boeing 757, developed shortly after the 767, is quite different from its big brother, yet it's quite similar, in other aspects. The aircraft share identical cockpits, allowing airlines to save ten's of thousands of dollars on pilot training.

This is truly an excellent book, for the aviation enthusiast and non-avitaion enthusiast alike.
