Good summary of the B-29 including many of its problems in development. Well-illustrated. I would have liked more information on the operating data (takeoff speeds, best rate of climb, glide speed, etc.) but this book, combined with a number of other publications I have available tells me a great deal about this highly technical aircraft. Good reference, but expected a bit more.....
I purchased this title thinking it would be a much more technical analysis of the B-29. While a decent reference with many good photos of early production machines, I found it lacking when specific details were needed. Still, for the price, a good reference to have.

As an aspiring author and amateur military historian (emphasis on airpower) I have been seeking the sort of information on the B-29 that I would want if I were going to fly it. This book was one more part of that project. I recommend it for anyone wanting to know more about the B-29 Superfortress. |
