I recently purchased a planer that was probably in a humid environment, or maybe had been left outside. So there was rust everywhere - I cleaned all the functional surfaces manually with sandpaper, steel wool, and elbow grease.
Now I wish I had this "rust-free" stuff when I started the job, because I used it on the outside of planer just for cleaning up the look. I was guessing that I'd have some more sanding to do because the rust was pretty thick. But the small spot I tried it on looked great! So I sprayed down a whole section - the results were very impressive... Not only did it remove the rust, but you couldn't tell that the rust was there to begin with - I mean you can see the original machining marks that were covered up with a layer of rust! Where the rust was deep, it left the metal darker than the rest. So with a little steel wool, everything looks great! A couple of catches about this item - It smells BAD BAD BAD! It made me cough something fierce when I inhaled just a bit. WEAR A RESPIRATOR! It made my eyes burn when I had my respirator on, so I used goggles and a big fan (hard to control the spray when the fan is going - but do it anyway!) Don't forget gloves because your skin will begin burning! Heck, get a disposable clean-room suit, they're cheap! The other catch - it leaves a very sticky, gummy surface. Like you let honey dry for a month. So I cleaned up with some solvents (acetone breaks it up nicely). All in all, I'm very happy with this product, as it did exactly what I needed - better than what I thought. I'm glad I don't have to use it everyday because it is toxic. I've already recommended it to friends who have rust issues!

I stored all of my woodworking equipment while moving, and applied oil to all the cast iron tables hoping to prevent rust. Well that didnt work so well, i was sick to look at my rusty equipment. Bought Boeshield Rust Free, and it works great, using a red Scotch Bright pad, it will remove all the rust. But some minor staining has remained, but im really happy with the results.

Removes organic / rust stains in fiberglass gelcoat.,

I tried this on my 33 year old sailboat. I had some rust stains as well as some organic stains from water in which some leaves had collected, decayed and stained the fiberglass. Sprayed liberally and left sit on the organic stain for 3 or four minutes and wiped off, the stain was removed significantly. A second application made it almost disappear.
In fairness, Clorox might have done the same thing for a lot less! The light rust stain was tried while still wet from overnight dew. The product was sprayed on and left to sit about 10 minutes then wiped off. The stain was reduced by about 70 percent in one application. Last I tried it on a tiny bit or rust that was beginning on a stainless fitting. I really did not see much improvement there. Admittedly this was not a great test, but it was still the result. This product contains phosphoric acid. Be careful. Keep off hands and out of eyes. Rubber gloves would be a good idea. If you have stains on your raw gelcoat I say its worth a try. It got rid of the stains I wanted. I did not try it on rusty tools, metal or any such use. I'd say it well worth a try on your stain if other products have failed. Try and buy locally if possible. The shipping kills the price. You could also try Barkeepers Friend, a type of powdered cleanser containing oxyalic acid. You can also buy a liquid, wood stain remover containing a weak oxyalic acid. Both are somewhat effective against light rust stains. Use the same cautions as above.

Living here in Florida everything has this tendency to rust. This product has been a life savior. Especially on the woodworking tools . I would highly recommend this product.

Rust is gone! Stains are still there... but that's not as important.,

The smell of this stuff is pretty awful, but it doesn't last very long. When the smell fades after about 15 seconds you know the acid's done its work, get in there with some course steel wool if your equipment looks like my joiner did (see pic up top) and scrub in the direction you want to have the least amount of friction (with the movement of parts/wood) until all the liquid is red with rust dust, wipe it off and repeat until all your rust is gone. Once your got a "rust free" surface, make sure you wipe it down a few times with wet cloths to get the acid of,f or else the bottle says it'll keep eating at your surface causing pitting. After I got all the acid off I ran back over the surface (with the direction of feed again) with fine steel wool to smooth the surface. I then put on some T-9 Boeshield, looks good and is as smooth as glass. Can't say anything for durability yet, as I just finished doing this 5 minutes ago. Bottle also says not to use on guns. It says its a stain remover, but the iron bed on my joiner still has plenty of deep stains from the rusting, but the surface is smooth so it's functionality isn't inhibited.

I found one application it did'nt work the way I hoped it would. It was on my motor homes wheels. The nuts and bolts under the crome covers rust and bleed the stain outside of the crome covers which is sort of ugly. It did take the surfice rust off but you can tell it will be back soon. I hope not but we'll see.

While glacier-climbing I used my Petzl Summit heavily on the ice. I dried and placed protecting covers, but when finally returned home, the iron-forged pick, the spike and the adze were covered with rust were the covers were placed. I rush-ordered this product and applied it on the rust-covered parts, and firmly wiped it out with a rag. It worked!!! I'm very happy and I will recommend this product without hesitation.

This item was 7.98, freight was 6.99. It took 3 days to ship it, just about the time I expected to receive it. This vendor is not prepared to do business on the Internet.
