4.0 out of 5 stars Good to have extras
The one that came with my tripod head ended up permanently attached to my long lens, since said lens is really too heavy to use without a tripod or monopod. I bought a couple of extra plates to use with other cameras/lenses.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy Item
Bought this as a replacement for the one that I lost. This one fits but it is smaller and the lip that holds lokks flimsy. I would not trust this for vertical shots. Bought a new ballhead for my tripod.

The one that came with my tripod head ended up permanently attached to my long lens, since said lens is really too heavy to use without a tripod or monopod. I bought a couple of extra plates to use with other cameras/lenses.

I agree with the person who said this plate can be hard to line up correctly. I'm a mechanical engineer, and usually pretty good with spatial relationships, but sometimes it takes me awhile to get the thing on. If you look really closely, there's an arrow on the plate to help you, but I suspect a lot of people don't notice it. It's difficult to see in low light - which is, of course, exactly when you want to use a tripod.

I finally took some nail polish and painted a little dot on the edge of the plate and on the edge of tripod head while they were connected correctly. Now it's much easier to orient the plate and fit it in right. I just line up the dots.

Safety, security and no slippage.
Lock it in and be confident that your equipment is secure.
Zero ancillary movement and strong enough to hold DSLR, battery grip with batteries and long tele-zoom without worry or concern.
Great price too!
Good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great to have a spare, August 22, 2007

Tripod plates are like socks - they both disappear to the same place! This plate attaches very securely to the camera and the rubber pad prevents rotation under the weight of a telephoto.

I own a bunch of these for my Nikon bodies and lenses, and they're terrific. I use them on the Bogen-Manfrotto 322RC2 Grip and I've got no concerns about quickly changing bodies mounted on the grip. If you're still screwing and unscrewing stuff on your tripod get a quick-release setup and you'll never look back!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tripod quick release plate, September 2, 2007
This review is from: Bogen Rapid Connect Mounting Plate 1/4-20" for RC-2 Quick Release Systems (#3157N) (Electronics)
Outstanding adaptor plate that mounts easily to my Nikon D80. I have a small Quantaray Digi Pro 100 tripod that I mounted the Manfrotto BOGEN RC-2 Adaptor. Wanted a small travel tripod but also wanted the convenience of having a quick release connect plate. The Bogen RC-2 with the 3157N is just that! Great quality and compact size. Just what I wanted. Am very pleased. Bought extra 3157N for video camera as well.

It's exactly what is advertised and works perfectly with my Manfrotto 725B Digi Tripod with Integrated Ball Head with Dove Tail Plate and Carrying Bag (Black). I keep the plate that came with the tripod on my Digital SLR camera and I keep the extra one I bought on my camcorder.

I'm fairly new to videography, and I really resent so many of the ridiculously overpriced accessories one needs to buy. This quick release plate is not too overpriced, solidily made .... and worth the money.

I'd recommend it.

This is my 2nd QR plate. I keep one mounted on the base of my camera and the other one is mounted to my long zoom lens. My camera does't have a spot for the anti-twist pin, so I had to remove it. The rubber grip seems to do an adequate job of keeping the camera from rotating.
