All the things I don't have set me free..,
By gnomic (Mid-Atlantic US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
Mae Moore may be the most undersold, underhyped female vocalist in the last 10 years. Her music is modern folk, unassuming, and she has outstanding lyrics and a great voice. Bohemia and Dragonfly are my favorites. She rates in my top 10 and I wish she would go on tour in the midwest so I could she her (hint, if you read these things) in person. If you have heard a clip and think you liked it, you can't go wrong with buying an album. My other favorites: Texas, Anne Lennox, Sinaed Lohen, Sheyl Crowe...

A Great Canadian Talent,
By
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
Mae Moore's music is incredibly uplifting, despite all of the tragedy this young woman has encountered in her life. She has a lovely, unique voice and songs that make you think. I can't think of anyone to compare her to since she has her own sound. If you stumble across a Mae Moore album, do yourself a favour and get it.

Mae Moore's best album,
By
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
Simply put, this album is fantastic. It encompasses many genres of music. I particularly like the folky style mixed with soft rock. Mae's voice is so light & clear with a slight hint of raspiness. This artist's passion is truly felt through her performances. This is a CD in which I enjoy all of the tracks, most notably "Bohemia," "Because of Love," and "Coat of Shame." Mae Moore has her own style which nobody can duplicate.

Closer Than I've Ever Been,
By "chad-michael" (Toledo, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
I first heard the title track many years ago on the radio from a station in Windsor while driving in my car. The DJ never identified the artist, and I had to wait several months before catching the song again, this time with information. That was the last time I heard it on the radio, but it was enough for me to go out and pick up this cd and become one of the few and proud Mae Moore fans.Ethereal, calming, and whimsical, track after track indulges the musical senses. There is a wonderful ambience here, the type of music that takes me back to where ever I have listened to it... I played it on purpose when I was in New Orleans last summer, and I played it when I was visiting Philadelphia the summer before. It captured both places perfectly.

A sweet, light, sunny place,
By A Customer
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
Sweet music is the best summary of this artist's work for me. From the Bohemia track to Shape of Love, the music lifts you spiritually to a light, soft, secure place where sunlight, warm breezes and happiness seem everpresent. Mae Moore's ability to instill the quintisential emotions of love and peace in this music is, to me, profound. Mae Moore's next best disc, in my estimation, is Dragonfly, with a similar light and sunny disposition which is likewise sure to sooth and calm. Another artist which reaches me in a similar way is Sarah MacLaughlin, though the emotion in Sarah's music brings sadness, reflection and philosophical musings. Mae Moore's Bohemia, like Ayn Rands, Fountainhead will be lifelong favorites and presents from me to those whom I think will enjoy the places they travel.

Autumnal beauty,
This review is from: Bohemia (Audio CD)
These songs never fail to make me think of autumn leaves and wet evening skies lit with an elegiac yet hopeful glow, with my true love walking beside me as night falls soft and slow. Needless to say, music this rich and subtle will never be very popular in an increasingly ugly commercial culture - all the more reason to search it out and savor it whenever you find it. I found my copy of "Bohemia" in a used CD bin..., displaced by the usual unmemorable flavors of the moment. In the years since, it is one of a mere handful of albums never far from my CD player; I don't think a week goes by that I don't listen to it at some point. Romantic, contemplative, soul-nourishing songs from a wonderful artist.

I've played this cd so often, I'm surprised it still works. I agree with other reviewers (most found in her other album reviews) that say they can't understand why she isn't better known here in the States; she has exactly the kind of groove I would have expected people to have taken to. Give her a chance, folks.
