3.0 out of 5 stars Hip-Hop Track List, April 28, 2002
By
Cleverer (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boiler Room: Original Motion Picture Score (2000 Film) (Audio CD)
So you liked the movie and found the hip-hop throughout compelling, bought the score and are wondering 'what the hell? where's the hip-hop?' There's a list in the end credits of the artists and tracks, but to save you some time, here's the list of track/artist/album, in case you want to find the MP3s or grab the CDs (pick up Tribe Called Quest - Anthology, definitely). Enjoy =)

Format is Track Name - Artist (Album)

1) New York (Ya Out There) - Rakim (18th Letter/Book Of Life)
2) Things Done Changed - Notorious B.I.G. (Ready to Die)
3) Area - De La Soul (Buhloone Mind State)
4) Get On This - Ugly Duckling (Fresh Mode)
5) Ma Dukes - O.C. (Word...Life)
6) Keepin The Faith - De La Soul (De La Soul Is Dead)
7) Award Tour - Tribe Called Quest (Anthology)
8) Funky Child - Lords of the Underground (Here Come The Lords)
9) Supa Star - Group Home (Livin' Proof)
10) Anywayz - Esthero (Breath From Another)
11) You Don't - Tricky (Maxinquae)
12) Rock the Set - Brand Nubian (In God We Trust)
13) Right Here - Pharoahe Monch (Internal Affairs)

15) What a Thug About - Beannie Sigel (Truth)

2.0 out of 5 stars A big let down. . ., July 24, 2000
By
This review is from: Boiler Room: Original Motion Picture Score (2000 Film) (Audio CD)
I went out and bought this CD today. The music is good and some of the best cutting edge hip hop, but it ends WAY too soon. The majority of the songs on here (if you can call them songs) are less then a minute long. Some are even a whole 17 sec long. This wouldn't be bad, but the music pauses in between each song, so it is disgustily obvious that the song is short. I think this would be a great CD if the songs were longer. You get into a song and then it just stops, then an new one starts, with the same bass cord as the last. A non-stop mix and this would be a great CD. Worth copying off the internet, not worth buying.
