Loved the original Aristocrats CD, but I've clearly missed a lot in not being able to hear them live. If you enjoyed their CD this is an absolute must purchase - easily the best live jazz-rock recording I've ever heard. No disrespect to Hendrix back in the day, SRV, Shawn Lane or Scott Henderson's incredible Vital Tech Tones projects but if this isn't the ultimate "power trio" I don't know what is. The quality of the compositions, soling and above all the eerie telepathy between the players (not to mention the self-depracating humor!) is so delightful!

I love that these guys play so many different genres as a 3 piece. If you love blues, its here, Jazz, absolutely, and just shredding rock n roll and metal, you betcha. They are the first instrumental band I have really dived into that feels like they write actual songs with various parts, and are not just jerking around playing as many notes as they can at breakneck speed. I hope that more people will support these guys and just sit back an enjoy their God given talents. One thing people might not like is the lack of vocals, but in the end someone singing would just drown out the goodness coming from the guitar, bass, and kit. And check out their website where you can get the deluxe edition featuring 2 extra songs, and a dvd of the same performance. here is a preview of the deluxe edition....

Years ago I was blown away by Marco Minnemann's appearance at The Modern Drum Festival. I've often wondered where he disappeared to after that. Lo and behold, he we go. I tripped over this thoroughly by accident, listening to steaming internet prog radio, and bought it without knowing of MM's involvement - imagine my surprise. Think of Satriani with one of the best prog drummers in the business. This album kicks it like no other.

Fully Enjoyed "Culture Clash," but somehow this is better.. Live. I am not even hardly half way through the first listen..!

Aristocrats have always satisfied My Musical Sweet Tooth, so I know from past history..

This is a more sophisticated and jazzy recording than many of the Youtube concerts out there. A bit less gritty. But, better, IMHO.
Guthrie Govan certainly DOES Make his guitar talk though, he can be so subtle as well as overwhelming. Not to mention FAST and accurate. I do not know of a Guitarist like Him. The complete package, and He makes it look so easy..

Another difference is B. Beller on Bass absolutely Goes off on this recording, whereas I always thought He was not really pushing it.

So now, the Trio is complete, with Beller playing like the virtuoso He is. Of Course, Govan and Minnemann are that as well.

Marco seems to let the Guys make more noise to His less. But His subtlety is always present. I could listen to Him alone, and often DO pick out the drum part in my head and listen to just that. He's a hoot..!

Try to pick the best One on their respective instruments, I dare Ya...!
