5.0 out of 5 stars My 2+ year old laughed repeatedly at the story
I have been reading this book to my 2 yr 4 month old son every night before sleep since I got the book, and he laughs at it when I describe the failure of the baby kangaroo to jump. He really laughs beautifully and I enjoy it. I like the colors, size of the pictures and the simple story.

I thought this book looked fun and colorful. My daughter doesn't share my opinion. The illustrations are fun but the text is horrible, nearly non-existent. The words are too small and it sits on the shelf. There are a ton of wonderful stories filled with amazing illustrations. Why waste money on this one?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun sweet book, December 2, 2004
This review is from: Boing! (Hardcover)
Me and my 3 1/2 year old son love this book - it starts very simply with minimal text which builds to a very cute & funny ending. The art is way above the usual fare and I recommend it to anyone with kids ranging from 2 to 4 or so - even my babysitter thought it was great! I did read a few other reviews and was a bit puzzled by the one negative one - really, this is a lovely, sweet and straightforward book, and I have purchased a few copies as presents for friends with similar-age kids. Really a nice kids' book, especially good for a gift idea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright, Colorful, Happy Boing, October 20, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Boing! (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my niece's 4th birthday because she loves books with animals, and because she loves to jump, hop and climb. In 'Boing,' a baby kangaroo learns how to hop with a little help from his friends -- a grasshopper, a frog, a bunny rabbit, a bear. In bright primary colors that leap off the page, with a pop-up page placed in just the right spot, 'Boing' is a hopeful, happy book. The baby kangaroo does everything my sister's kid does: I won't spoil the story by saying how. Enjoy! I know she will!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Hopping Good Read, October 31, 2005

My three year old loves this book. For weeks after reading it for the first time, she called me mama kangaroo and we had to hop-I mean, boing-all around the house instead of walk. "Boing" has also replaced the word "jump" in her vocabulary.

The simple yet poignant story and minimal text make it great for adding your own imagination to the book. My daughter and I have had a lot of fun talking about other animals that boing and trying out new boinging techniques. Plus you can't beat the cardiovascular exercise that acting out the story can give.
