What I like best is that there are no side effects and as with all homeopathic substances you can never overdose.

I've used this stuff several times now, and it really seemed to knock the symptoms down pretty rapidly.

I've used this stuff several times now, and it really seemed to knock the symptoms down pretty rapidly. It may be "snake oil" and the placebo effect; but I'm pretty skeptical, and it has appeared to help me bypass the worst of the illness and get better quickly...

One of the previous reviewers knocks it, saying it is so dilute it couldn't work, and that it's just "duck liver and heart." Actually, the "goo" he talks about is probably full of bacteria, and according to one reference I found, the dose provides enough bacteria to somehow be beneficial.

There are also two double blind studies (though financed by the mfr) that show significant improvement over a placebo.

I believe in everything: UFO's, ancient aliens, Bigfoot, conspiracy theories, mind over matter....everything. I wanted to believe in this product too, but no can do. After trying it several times, with several different illnesses, for me it just did not work at keeping illness at bay. Being a believer, you would think the placebo effect would have played a small part at least, but no, still got sick, and used exactly as directed. Highly disappointed. I like to believe... :)

My dad insisted that I take this the last time I got a cold (and I did take it, with no noticeable effect), so I did a little research, and found out what this is. They use pseudo-scientific jargon to disguise the fact that this is quite literally a sugar pill. The active ingredient is "Anas barbariae hepatis et cordis extractum HPUS 200CK". "Anas barbariae hepatis et cordis" is Latin for duck heart and liver, HPUS is the acronym for a reference book that defines the ingredient. But don't worry about consuming duck organs, the "200ck" describes the method of preparation. They puree the duck parts in water. Then they actually completely empty out the bottle and refill it with pure water, and whatever is stuck to the side of the container is then presumably absorbed into the new water, thus quickly and drastically diluting the solution. And then they repeat this process....200 times! They take the final "solution" (pure water) and put it on little balls of sugar. Statistically it would be like winning the lottery if even one molecule of duck was in your dose of sugar. Basically they could be using the heart and liver from the same duck for every dose they make until the sun explodes and they would have plenty left over. True, if you take this medicine your cold should be better in a few days. However, if you don't take this medicine guess what? Your cold should be better in a few days. These people are immoral crooks, and France out to be ashamed that they haven't put this company out of business.

I am sorry for the negative review, it just makes me very upset to see such a deliberate, organized, long-lasting scam that has been accepted by so many. There is no cure for the common cold yet, just stick to medicines which help your symptoms, and if it makes you feel better to take this, go ahead, it won't hurt you, it is probably the safest medicine on the market.

Two things:

1) Our education system is in such a shambles that people are this easy to fool. Basic logic and basic principles of reality (let alone science) proves that this garbage does not and can not work. Yet people are so completely out of touch with reality and reason, that their feeble minds think this works. Unreal.

2) Our perversion of capitalism (especially when it comes to "health care" which is just a profit machine) is so out of whack that major stores like CVS actually have this garbage on the shelf next to real proven remedies for cold and flu symptoms. THAT is criminal in my opinion.

My only hope is that evolution of the human species works this all out, and the peddlers and believers in this nonsense are gradually removed from the gene pool by natural selection. In recent times however, it seems that the survival and profiting and multiplying of the most UNFIT parasites is what is happening here, while the intelligent procreate less and disappear.

All this proves is the power of the placebo effect [which is very strong in certain people]. A recent [Cochrane Library] medical meta-analysis of all the "trials" showed an overall effect of 0.2-days of relief! The reason you feel crummy with flu is because it takes that long to generate the antibodies to clear the virus from your blood, and to generate CD8 T cells [white blood cells] to knock off infected cells tricked into producing the virus.

This product [which is just powdered sugar] claims to be produced from duck liver which is "a natural reservoir of influenza viruses". This is not true; viruses tend to be species-specific and this is certainly true for human influenza viruses. An extract is then diluted out a gazillion times, but this leaves an "imprint". An imprint of what? The influenza virus? Why doesn't the product then itself give us the flu? How does our immune response make a response to a ghost? My hearty congratulations to the French charlatans who stick sugar in a bottle and sell it for over 10 bucks at a time.
