I found this Boker Plus is a nice looking and nice feeling pen. It really is a lot smaller then I was thinking it would be though. It's almost tiny in comparison to a standard pen or pencil, not to mention other Tactical pens. I will try to post a comparison picture in the gallery.

The bolt action mechanism for exposing the tip of the pen is clever. I do have to say that when the tip is retracted, the bolt rattles around a bit as the spring isn't quite pushing the bolt all the way to the top of the slot. Not a deal breaker for me though.

Only other thing I can say is that finding refills might be a pain. Already checked a few local stores including Office Depot and no one has anything that will fit.

Excellent (and fun to play with) pen. The only problem I had was one of the four pens had an ink flow problem (dry refill?). I received no reply from the seller so I ordered refills from Amazon. Turned out the pens are Second Generation but everyone selling refills sells refills for First Generation pens! I had to order Lamy M22 refills from Germany. Problem solved with time and money. The pen writes well and made nice gifts.

If you buy this pen, make sure that it is a 2nd generation model 09bo086. The 1st generation model only takes a Boker brand ink refill. The 2nd generation model takes Lamy M22 ink refills that can be purchased anywhere.

The pen in small (5") compared to other "tactical" pens.

The bolt action mechanism is very easy to use and addictive!

Another reviewer said that his pen tip came off easily in the pocket because the tip did not have enough thread. The tip on my pen seems secure enough and it has an "0" ring inside that secures it well.

The refill that came with the pen lasted all of two lines of writing. If you are buying one, I would suggest you order additional Lamy M22 refills at the same time.

My pen (I did not order it through Amazaon.com) had a rough spot on the clip that I had to file off. other than that, the fit and finish on the pen is pretty good.

Other non-capped "tactical" pens (made by SureFire) usually cost almost twice what this pen costs.

Overall, I think the pen is worth the cost.

After first receiving this pen, and carrying it as an EDC pen for the first day, Some major issues came up. First off, the bolt was extremely stiff, and would only make it partially up the action before getting stuck and me having to really force it over the edge into the locking space on the bolt. After constantly playing with it however it seemed to break in. Unfortunately a second issue that came up was the end cap. Even though there is an O - ring in the tip, the one one mine would not hold the cap in place and in turn the cap was constantly loose. In the end I am going to send this back. Disappointed in the product.

WHEN YOU ORDER THIS PEN, ORDER THE LAMY M22 REFILLS AT THE SAME TIME! Apparently the Boker refills that are suggested don't actually fit quite right. The lamy m22 is the right size for this pen, and it is way better than the one you get with it. And my lamy shipment came from London, so I wished I had gone ahead and ordered at the same time.

This pen is pretty sweet. I love the bolt action slide, although the idea that it is like a rifle's bolt is a bit of a bluff. The bolt is sprung upwards, makes since, but that kind of doesn't fit the bolt action thing. I guess if you imagine really hard it is a smaller version of the same motion used to close the bolt on a rifle, but it could be better. I guess they don't claim it to be like that anymore, but they had when I bought mine. The other thing is that no bolt action gun that I know of uses a .45 cal bullet, that is usually reserved for pistols with .45 ACP these days. But that is a bit nit picky.

The body of the pen is quite strong, I dropped mine off of a 40 foot cherry picker onto concrete and didn't see a dent or scratch in it. The ink cartridge was messed up, but it had been out, so I kind of figured it was. The Lamy m22 that I mentioned before works great and completes this pen well. The integrated clip to me looked like it would struggle to hold the pen on anything but jeans(which I never wear) but actually it will hold the pen on just about everything I have tried so far. Shirts, khaki shorts, belts, all have worked.

So in summary, this is a cool pen that works well if you get the right ink cartridge to go with it. Order Lamy M22's and you'll love it, don't and you might enjoy it until the original ink runs out.

Okay, so this gets a 2 star right out of the box. Things I've noticed immediately is this: 1. The cap at the tip for changing the ink cartridges comes off pretty easily. Secondly the spring seems like it might be too weak. The reason why I'm saying that is while the pen is not in the writing position it rattles a lot. I bought this as a cool looking, tactical pen for work. But while this is clipped onto my patrol uniform shirt I don't want to hear it rattling. I haven't worked with it yet so maybe while its tucked away in my shirt it won't rattle like it does while its just out in the open. Either way it just feel cheap at this point. The pen at first use does seem to write fine and feels comfortable in the hand. it really is a cool looking ben and there is no way you're ever going to break that clip off. Just not going to happen and anyone who works patrol knows the pain of the seatbelt catching the pen clip and breaking it off. Soooo take this review as you will. It has a lot of posative reviews and thats why I purchased this product. As a just around the house, everyday pen its cool, but who in the real world wants to have a cool tactical pen thats this expensive around the house. I don't write enough checks or enough notes for that. I want a good work pen. The bolt action is neat but I think it would have been a little nicer if they had it back further on the pen like they have on their other pens. Its just kind of awkward having it so far up. I'll update this review as I use it. I hope this helps.
