This review is from: Bola De Nieve, , Ya No Me Quieres - Vete De Mi - Drume Negrita - No Puedo Ser Feliz (Audio CD)
There's no specific way to translate from the spanish the word "Bolero", but in a attemp to define it I should say that is a slow cuban beat, some sort of tropical blues, which speaks mostly about broken hearts, betrayals and lost lovers. Bola de nieve, a gay, black, cuban singer - when all that was forbidden to be - shows with his broken voice and his piano, what every bolero should have. "Vete de mi" (in english must be something like "Go away from me") is a prayer to the beloved one to go for the pain that love might cause, "Adiós Felicidad" (Goodbye Hapiness) the result watching the good things of your life slipping away... But not all this album is so sad. "Ay, Mamá Inés" and "Drume negrita" (Sleep, little black girl) displays the influences of the african and cuban music, played only with a piano. This is a great album to have... (Warning: I bought this CD here and it had a manufacturing defect in the first track. Amazon.com, replaced it, but the other copy had the same problem, so consider yourself notified of that. Despite of that, the rest of the album worth the price to be paid).
