5.0 out of 5 stars glam gem, October 4, 2000
A Kid's Review
Spanning the Tyrannosarus Rex era and the explosion of T-rextacy with the stunning "Electric Warrior", this early compilation stands out as an absolute gemstone in the career of Marc Bolan.Originally released on vinyl in 1971,it has well endured the ravages of time. Tracks such as "By the light of a magical moon" & "She Was Born to be My Unicorn", are steeped in Celtic myth & Tolkein fantasy and see Bolan at the peak of latter day Tyrannosarus Rex. Our ears then get to hear the delightful halycon days of electric T-Rex, with "Get it On","Jeepster","Hot Love"<"Ride a White Swan", and the superb "Raw Ramp"( not available on most albums, complete with th "Ther was a Time" intro). Bolan was pure dazzling genius, and combined with the expertise of Producer Tony Visconti, he could do no wrong in the early 70's. Overall a slendid, flawless insight into Bolans art and unique talent. Collosal !

5.0 out of 5 stars First Greatest Hits Collection, July 16, 2001
Bolan Boogie is the first greatest hits collection from T. Rex. Released just as T. Rextasy was sweeping England, the album shot up to number in the UK. The album includes the band's first glam rock hits like "Get It On", "Jeepster", "Ride A White Swan" and "Hot Love". But the set also contains the work of Tyrannersaurus Rex which was an early incarnation of T. Rex before discovering glam rock. The songs like "She Was Born To Be My Unicorn", "King Of The Mountain Cometh" and "Dove" are acoustic in nature and more in tune with Donovan than David Bowie. The album makes for a great contrast in listening as the band shifted styles and musical gears.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange mix from early & middle period, July 23, 2007
This collection represents a mix of Marc Bolan/T-Rex's very early work, like Beltane Walk, King Of The Mountain Cometh and She Was Born To Be My Unicorn, plus the great hits from 1970 to 1971 like Get It On, Ride A White Swan and Hot Love. These three masterpieces saw the band in their prime. The album is enjoyable and the music still rocks, but there are plenty better compilations available that cover both the early and later periods. I recommend VERY BEST OF T. REX, VOL. 1 and Very Best of Marc Bolan, Vol. 2.
