I am a fifteen-year-old girl who-despite the fact that these books are written for ten-year-olds and about twelve-year-olds-loved the first two because they are about horses. Previously, subplots have included school issues and family dynamics with some religious elements casually thrown in (ex. praying, church, thanking god for things that go right, friend Barker's brothers are named Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). There is also an ongoing storyline between Winnie and a girl named Summer, who is snobbish, rude to Winnie, and is several times seen abusing her horses. Halfway through the third book in the series, Pat Haven (teacher and pet store owner) asks Winnie to help her in a school abortion debate and says that she needs her help because a large number of kids including Summer are on the pro-choice team. When Winnie tells Pat that she doesn't like public speaking, Pat tells her that all she has to do is pray and god will give her the right words because she is saying something he wants her to say. I have not finished the book yet but based on what I've read in the other books in the series, I really wish they would just stick to horses and slumber parties and leave the sex ed to real-life parents and teachers.

This is a TOTALY cool book! I adore all of Winnie The Horse Gentler books although this is probably my favorite! This is a MUST buy!

This book is awsome! It's all about how Winnie Willis takes on a horse, Bold Beauty to cure of her high jumping problems.
Winnie falls off and and becomes terrified of the high hedge. Finally, with the help of God, faces up to her fear and jumps with God riding double!
I think Catman likes Winnie!

All of the books in the Winnie series are awesome reads for young horse lovers, although I did have one problem with #3. In one chapter, the students are engaged in an abortion debate, and the term rape is mentioned. There is no definition of rape, and they do not go into detail about the subject, but I feel my 9 year old is way too young to even question what the word means. I hate that I have to break up the series, but I plan on holding this book out until my child is old enough to understand.

We found the Winnie series on Amazon and absolutely love it. The books are heartwarming with great character development. My daughter - 13 - is an avid horse lover and the author clearly has her horse facts right on. We recommend starting with the first book in the series - Wild Thing - but this isn't absolutely necessary.
Book 3 is just super - with some new characters and challenging topics

Bold Beauty is the third book in the Winnie the Horse Gentler series for tween girls. It's a Christian series, and definately are wholesome books.

In this volume, Winnie is to gentle a jumper. Only problem is, Winnie is thrown while jumping -- and starts telling lies about what happened to her so that her dad won't make her quit gentling horses. But what about Bold Beauty? She needs to be gentled enough so she can make the jumps at a competition. Without Winnie having confidence, will she be able to make Bold Beauty have the confidence needed to make that highest jump? Not only that, but she's being paid a nice sum of money to gentle this horse, and she'll only get paid if she accomplishes that. If she can't get this done, she won't have money to keep Nickers since she lost her job mucking stalls!

I really am enjoying this series. So many of the characters are so well developed. The only thing I didn't like about this book is the abortion debate. I realize this is an important issue, but I also don't like it thrown into books where it could as easily be left out, especially when it feels "tacked on" as it did in this book. Also, for younger or more naive children, this might be a little more than their parents would care for them to know on this topic.

Other than that, this is a highly enjoyable series and this book doesn't disappoint.

Bold Beauty is a great book. It keeps you on the edge of you seat not wanting to put it down. Can't wait to see what Winnie learns next!

I rated this book five star because I was rooting for the star horse all the way. Loved the fact the horse wasn't sold.

Finally! This is a wonderful novel that is rich in accurate horse gentling techniques and tips. Well done!
